They even let us play the kind of Irish music my dad would have loved. “I preplanned my father’s funeral at another local funeral home on Mack in gp which I have used for my mother. This time I was referred to this funeral home and dealt with Brian. He was much more friendly and welcoming. The difference I should note is my experience with the other funeral home was done with immediate need vs. this experience here started with a preplanned funeral that I didn’t expect to need for some time. Unfortunately my father passed only about two months after it was finalized. The fees were very close although Verhyden’s fee was about $800.00 less. They also did not attempt to collect for the opening and closing of the grave which they explained was illegal. Whereas the other facility wanted to hold those funds. They were extremely friendly and accommodating. But they forgot to instruct us to line up pall bearers. They also forgot the obituary and had to rush to put one together which was excellent. But the saddest part was even though I reminded them to honor my father’s service with a flag on the coffin they forgot it. They suggested we meet next year and have military honors and present us with a flag then. I don’t think that is going to have the same meaning considering my dad was so humbled and happy that the flag was going to be on his coffin. If you want more detail and Aloof service head to vernier. If you want friendly accommodating staff and don’t mind checking one or two small details I would definitely recommend Verhyden they did a very good job!”
