Very nice trails, beautiful colors in fall, good work for body. the river side has also good spots for fishing, seeing many anglers catching big fish. Strongly recommended.
very beautiful trail with many beautiful views. going down the stairs you walk through the ancient forest, it seems that dinosaurs still walk there. descent to the river with a magnificent view. on the river you can see a speedboat going against the current. great views for photos. need good shoeswalking on stones. the entire trail is passable for any skill level.
There’s an open area overlooking the gorge, with paid parking, an information Center, washrooms, a pavilion, a grassy area and shade. It’s a great place to walk along if you want to enjoy the view from afar. However, if you want, you can hike down to the gorge. The water is a beautiful green-blue colour, with an amazing rock wall and greenery overlooking it. It is a somewhat difficult hike, especially if you are carrying a lot of stuff (like fishing gear). If you did choose to fish down there, you can catch massive fish like salmon and lake trout. However, there are rapids and you would most likely be fishing from a big, flat rock that is partially submerged in water, so you have to be extremely cautious. The hike ends with lots of uphill walking, so bring water and pace yourself.
It’s a great trail for walking near the white water. We would do this again.
You’ve seen the Falls but there’s always more for the Niagara region to offer. About 20 minutes east of the falls, there’s an abundance of activities including this well maintained, moderate trail!
The metal stair structure is the only entrance and exit to the trail system. The trail system is very clearly marked. Lots of stone steps to pave large portions of the trail (moderately steep).
Views include: the Niagara River all along the River trail, large rocks and boulders (need a bouldering permit to climb), lush forest, and a variety of birds.
We went on a Wednesday that was forecasted to rain in the afternoon and lucked out with no rain. Abundance of parking spaces around 11-2pm. Washrooms beside the nature center are partially closed (as of writing). Bring enough water with you and carry your trash out; there are garbage and recycling bins located right at the top of the stairs!
