(June 6, 2023, 5:16 pm)I eat fish almost every day of my life and every time I am in Amsterdam I stop at as many stalls as I can for some herring or mackerel or whatever I am in the mood for. This time I had a mackerel sandwich with a healthy serving of mayo too. I loved every bit of it from the smell to the taste. The fish has that pickled preserved flavor that is strong and balances the fish flavor a bit, the mayo brings a creamy texture to the dish and the bread is merely a vehicle for the fantastic fish. I’ve also had the herring too and would obviously recommend it.
(May 27, 2023, 12:07 pm)Super fresh Herring. The wife and I always need a Herring hit when we go to Holland and the Herring here was excellent. There are stand only tables place out in the open with no shelter. BUT, we certainly will be back for more herring.

There are standing table around the store that you can enjoy the food without holding it.

About Herring Stall Jonk at the Rokin and at the Spui
Where we began. Haringhandel Jonk is established in 1987. The stall was located at the Rokin across from Rederij P. Kooij. When the plans for the North/South Line came in 2002 and a new metro line was built, the stall moved to their current location at the Spui.
