This is a beautiful place to hike. Other than all the garbage left from people that can't " pack in and pack out" it's okay
It's truly a beautiful trail and what makes it amazing is that the landscape is so different from other parks in the nearby greater Phoenix.
On this trail, you will see beautiful red huge mountains and jaw dropping bird's eyes views as the trail slowly takes you up.
I would recommend parking close to Hotel Magma, and then you can walk the 2 to 5 minutes to Magma Avenue Trailhead. ( or you can do it the other way where you park at the Scenic Overlook parking lot) From there, it is a combination of concrete and gravel; about 2.5 miles one way, it's in and out. It is perfect for beginners because it is pretty much flat. When it does climb, it is a gentle slope however it does get your heart rate up. You are treated to beautiful views of the old Queen Creek Bridge, the arch bridge, and the old Queen Creek tunnel. Also you will be able to see stunning views of the cliffsides. The photos don't do it justice.
Beautiful desert scenery better saved for cooler weather if you are not from AZ.
Neat area to explore around. Great when Queen Creek is flowing good but that will limit some access. Looks like recently picnic tables were place and a section gated off at the Apache Tears trail starting point. A shame because there was some ancient stuff to see past the gate but apparently it was private property so appropriate.
This place is so bad I've gone hiking here probably 9 times in the last 3 weeks. Many nuances . Gets busy on weekends. People need to learn how to deal with toilet paper ugh.
