Absolutely gorgeous nature center and hiking spot. Good for all levels of physical fitness. Excellent signage along the paths explains the history of this 100 year old nature preserve.
Great place for a nice walk, picnic, relaxing - highly recommended.
Boice Thompson arboretum plant sale going on now. Fantastic deals on wonderfully native and desert tolerant plants!
Such a beautiful place. Great walk through various cactus & desert landscape. Rose, butterfly & hummingbird gardens. So beautiful!
It looks you can either get here by crossing the bridge from the main trail, or if you want more of an adventure- you can go in from the suspension bridge, and then hike up about 10 minutes of the High Trail. When you come down, you will. be in the Wallace Desert Garden area. There's not really much in terms of signs explaining each plant as you walk around, however I think that is nice as it allows you more fully enjoy the landscape without stooping to read.
There were a few sections, each with a larger sign in front to declare the region/biome. It was mostly a bunch of variations of cacti and desert trees. There was some artwork too. There was a water fountain that pushed water out if there was sun powering it, and there also was a horse statue that you can pose by and some cool blue rocks. Mostly, it was just a bunch of small dirt loops taking you through each of the different world's regions desert plants. The nice thing is it was much less crowded than the rest of the arboretum.
