Wonderful place loved watching the tug boats and barges on the Mississippi River. The park is well maintained and clean. Don't be discouraged by the area around the office and the unsightly discarded large items- It seems they put most of their time making sure the RV sites are taken very good care of. And the office is not close to the RV sites. Wonderful laundry facilities throughout the campground. The sites are level and easy to navigate. Nice benches to sit on by the river.
Love this park but don’t stay here if going to Graceland. The I-40 bridge is closed and all traffic funnels through I-55. Absolutely horrendous traffic. Took over 2 hours on a Sunday to go 16 miles!
The property itself is nice, and it's right on the Mississippi River. There are a few private ponds you can fish without a license. The sites themselves are nice, but the community restrooms could use a few more units. Bathrooms and baths were decent, not the worse and not the best.
Not the campground's fault and nothing they can do, but you can definitely smell the industry and plants around the property when the wind carries the odor just right. Otherwise, this is probably the best you can get in Memphis metro.
I'm giving Tom Sawyer a 3.5. We had a river front site on a level concrete slab. Utilities worked as expected. It had obviously flooded in the previous days as a lot of drift wood and debris along the waters edge. The river front sites are staggered which gives you some relief from your neighbors as the sites are close. No trash pick up and trash receptacle is at the exit, a long way from the site. Looks like they're adding more sites to the south. No frills so at $45 it seems a bit high. But you are close to Memphis if that interests you. We enjoyed watching the barge traffic and river in general. Plenty of room to walk your dog(s) and they provide bags and drop off receptacle along the riverfront. As the others have stated, good for a 1-2 day stop.
Very nice. Do not hesitate to stay here. We took a site by the river in the wide open area with level pull thrus but there are wooded sites also that set away from the river. All sites have grassy lawn area. I wish we could have stayed longer.
