“The Food I am not sure how noodles differ in different regions of China. But when I walked by Classic Guilin Rice Noodles, it seemed like an interesting place to try. My friend and I ordered their Beef Brisket and Crispy Pork Guilin Rice Noodle (牛腩,脆皮桂林米粉) along with Special Small Bowl Rice Noodle (合味特色一口粉). The Special Small Bowl Rice Noodle came with a sampler of different noodles. These "Bite Rice Noodle" give a chance to try different noodle dishes. I enjoy both the Beef Brisket and Crispy Pork as well as Special Small Bowl noodles. I like these styles of noodles, and the flavors, though similar, are pretty good. They of course have a variety of other dishes besides noodles, so will need to return and try them. The Miscellaneous The restaurant itself is decent sized with a good amount of seating. The interior is clean with interesting decor, giving the typical Chinese restaurant vibe. The service and staff were nice and sincere. They took our order when ready, and the wait time for the food was pretty quick. Their menu has other selections besides noodles such as stew, hot pot and rice plate. The prices are not unreasonable so it is worth a try if you are in the area.”

“Consistently the yummiest Curried Chicken in town. Juicy morsels of chicken with a sauce evenly tempered with spice and veggies. Their fried chicken wings are also superb...not greasy yet moist. The folks who run the place are fine citizens of planet earth. I drive here 12 miles one way weekly and gladly.”

“These guys make an excellent spinach salad! The first 3 slices I bought here were brag worthy. The last 2 slices were not. The flavors were on point but the crust was soggy. I still love this place and will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. Heavy metal music and horror movies are also on the menu. Enjoy.”

“I just listened to the story of The Hatch on The Daily, what an incredible owner and what a great local bar. This place is a gem. I remember visiting as a poor college student and loving this place. I’m rooting for you, The Hatch. Hang in there!”

“I had the fish and chips and I gotta tell you, it was delicious. The fish batter has some interesting spices in it that are subtle but excellent. The "chips" on the other hand could have been finely sliced hard cardboard. I didn't care for the cole slaw though it did have a nice pink color. They serve Mexican coke, high in cane sugar. They also have a very popular selection of beer. The view is nice, seating comfortable and there is a quirky interior. Check out the bottle chandeliers. This place has been here in one form or another for years, this iteration is pretty good. It is hipster safe, so bring your fedora, beard and sip a beer looking hip. I would definitely go back and have the fish and chips, for the fish, again.”

“What a fabulous dry bar! I wouldn't go anywhere else. Suzy gives you exactly what you wish forei wthout a lot of banter. She is so calm and beautiful, you feel relaxed and excited at the same time. I have been several times in a year for Color, (Heather is the colorist, an artist), hair cut, keratin, blowdry, and every time I have felt like me only better, more beautiful and extremely grateful. These two ladies could teach other salons how to take care of their clients, with grace, love and gratitude,. They even offer you a fresher upper with a blowdry..whaaaat. Love them!”

“Ok... this place is a trip. When you walk in, it presents as a standard sit down lunch spot with some class that you expect to find near downtown Oakland. White paper table coverings, cloth napkins, server staff in all black attire, and nice decor. What this is, however, is a culinary program run by Laney College with students preparing the food. Monday to Wednesday is a standard menu and every Thursday and Friday rotates through a different world cuisine. I've been here about a dozen times and tried a number of different dishes from around the world. The food can be hit or miss. Usually hit, but the price is where it is at. Every entree here is between $8 and $12. Appetizers or salads are $6-$8. The dishes would be $20-$30 at a normal (non culinary school) restaurant like this. Don't expect fast or excellent service. The manager is often running around trying to coach and train the server staff, who I assume may be students as well? Either way, this is one of the best deals you can find in the City or the Bay. Top quality recipes and ingredients for rock bottom prices. How can you go wrong?”

“It's good for a quick bite on campus, and fairly inexpensive too. As I understand it's staffed by the culinary arts students, and I've always enjoyed the food.”

“Plenty. As in plenty of delicious food. I’m a generally healthy eater and this spot does not disappoint for healthy lunch options. Great bowls and salads. Meat or veggie. Cap it all off with a neighborhood feel and reliable warm smiles from the staff.”

“Great family-owned local restaurant. Nothing special compared to the selection of nearby Vietnamese places but also passes a high bar for flavor and service. Got the Egg Roll & Grilled Pork vermicelli; tasted fresh and delicious.”

“Nice place, finding parking is a bit hard. The menu rotates, so it's nice to try new Japanese tapas. Beer selection could improve. The menu is well priced”
