“Stunning views. Grand loop trail is challenging but rewarding — lots of steep uphill and downhill. We went off the main trail but still made it to the top! Definitely have a good phone GPS with you and lots of water.”

“Sometime the best part of a journey is not its final destination. Along your way to the summit, you will find many stops that might offer spectacular views. Stay warm is your area heading to the top in winter.”

“Perfect park to come with a dog. Clean and big with good crowd. I usually come around 7.30-8 am with my dog. He loves it here”

“Outstanding views the entire trail to the pulpit may not be for everyone but most of it can be done by most children and adults. It is a very difficult climb if you wanted to be on the pulpit itself. Definitely not for everyone the easiest way to access it is from the fire interpretive trail. Hiking from the upper lots would be more challenging.”

“We went on a hike to Mt Diablo. Started from the Mitchell Canyon trial head. And went through fire interpretive trail to Deer Flat. From there to camping area and used to summit trail to get to the summit. It's doable if you are in good shape. Total distance is about 14 miles round trip. Elevation gain is about 3700.”

“Great outdoors place! Love the secret trails too!”

“Absolutely amazing! This was just a quick trip for me, in town for work and wanted to do something I've never done before. I'm from Illinois where the closest to mountains we have seem to be speed bumps. So climb (drive) a mountain it is! Honestly, I was white knuckled the majority of the way up. But the roads are paved and maintained wonderfully. You need to be careful of the bikers (with calves of steel), and the random gang of HUGE turkeys and what I think were quail. Appreciate there are Bobcats in the area as well. Your drive up will be worth it when you get to the very top, and climb 2 small flights of stairs to the observation area. Unobstructed 360 degree views. It was breathtaking! Side note- the ride down is a lot quicker and more fun! Cost: $10. Worth it!”

“Campground is ideal for ~20 people. Has water facility + the cars can be parked near tent site. Too many racoons visit the site at night so keep the site clean and dispose eatables properly. Loved the panoramic views and the beautiful sunset!”

“The view is awesome here that your could see all bay area on the hill. But somehow, there are lots of flies around the site. Site is first come first serve, so come earlier if you want to get the better site.”

“I'm on the Peregrine Protection Team in the Diablo Foothills and it's like being a tiny person in a beautiful vast place where you feel connected to nature. It's great for hiking, not a lot of steep trails and it's got streams to cross over, picnic areas, lawn and the views are spectacular! The Pine Canyon cliffs are closed to the public during Peregrine breeding season, Feb 1 - July 31 (tresspassers ARE fined, just be aware). The rest is open for your pleasure though.”

“For climbing this is a very rich area. BUT, it is a mile mildly uphill hike to get to the turn out for the pine canyon/castle rock. Then it's across a creek and up steep unmarked canyons. The trails are not marked after the turn up hill. Mountain project is a great resource but it will require a full morning of strenuous recon before the pay off. The payoff are amazing views and flakey sandstone cliffs. The creek is nice to hike along in winter but dry in summer. Overall, excellent for adventuring but not for a casual day climb.”

“The Castle Rock trail is my go-to when I need a short escape + workout. It has some good hills, great views and an occasional run-in with the local wildlife. Dogs can go off-leash once up in the hills.”

“Really cool place to rider and hike with friends or just by yourself. There is usually a little path for you to walk on throughout the entire trail. The trial is very long and consists of many different sections. The trial is bike and hiking friendly. The roses are pretty roughly made so only use a mountain bike on this trial. I have some videos that I made while riding there.”

“We used to hang out here all the time in high school. Over a decade later now and with a kid things have changed a bit. Came back to visit family and was amazed by all the upgrades. The playgrounds are great! This has always been a nice park but it is even better now. If you have little ones this is definitely a place to check out.”

“Totally one of the most beautiful spots I've seen in the area. Granted, I visited just a few days after a storm rolled through, but the hills were vibrant green and everything was bursting with life. Hardly anyone around. Easy to get away from the sound of traffic. Just beautiful. Easy to get lost in it, in a good way.”
