I rated this Kernville gem 5 stars because the owners or person handling this gorgeous home outdid their selves showing vast amounts of lovely detailed photos that really capture the entire place. “Always a great experience with Kern river fly shop. My husband booked a guided trip for us hoping I would like it enough to fish with, and I ended up hooked! I have since booked several guide trips with Kern river fly shop and they are always amazing experiences. From fishing the upper Kern with Rob to learning to fish the surf with Guy, I have learned so much in a short period of time. It’s a lot of knowledge to take in but Rob is always very patient and excited about sharing everything he knows every time we are out on the water. Hes just as excited as I am when I hook a fish and learn something new. I always feel safe getting down to the fishing spots and in the water. I’m thankful he’s taught me to be confident/sage on the water when I’m fishing on my own. I more recently booked a surf clinic and guided day with Guy. I was surprised how much I learned in such a short time at the clinic. At the guided trip, He helped me catch onto it so quick. It was awesome to feel confident and catch a few fish the first time being out. Guy was patient and explained everything to me so I understood it easily. I even went out on my own a couple days after and was able to catch quite a few on my own just after those two classes. I love how all the guides genuinely love what they are doing!”

“Been going there my hole life for pastrami samiches. I haven't been up there in a year or so, and to my surprise when I went up there yesterday to get a pastrami I was sadly disappointed to see they were closed down.. I've never seen it empty with no people especially in July. A piece of life feels like it just came to an end. I still give them 5 stars for having the best pastrami ever.”

“They treat patients with respect and care, unlike several other local pharmacy chains. The Drugstore is the absolute BEST. They took the time to help me get a transfer from somewhere else immediately. After waiting 5 hours for the first place to contact me and then tell me they were out of a specific medicine, the Drugstore took over and got my medicine immediately, called me back and I had it in my hands in an hour. Now THAT is customer service and care!”

“Rode the dirt bike track with my son today, it was a lot of fun, I could tell it was worked on some since the last time I was there, It could use a little groming, but for a small track, it has a variety of turns hills curves jumps etc. Makes for a great, exciting, exhilarating, day of riding. Recomended, has restrooms, park benches and plenty of parking for trailers, as well.”

“Came in when my friend and I arrived in Kernville Tuesday to stay and hike. Veronica MADE my birthday holiday. The recommendations of 100 Giants, Johnsondale Bridge hike, Packsaddle Cave hike, and a drive to Big Meadow(we spend the day exploring and setting up our chairs, having lunch, and reading). Awesome time. Great Map. Make sure you download all areas, trails, etc before heading out of cell range.”

“Love this market... the meat is phenomenal, produce is always good only place I'll go for avocados. Deli is great. Most the employees are super friendly almost like family. You have a question they go out of their way to get you an answer. I actually prefer to shop here for the important food stuffs, the main things the stuff that counts. Meat, produce, dairy, bread.... oh yeah and they have great shirts too...❤”

“This antique store had a lot of cool stuff. From old dining tables to sports memorabilia. They even have a garden section in the back with cool fountains and gnomes. They also had cool looking street lights that look as if you can still get power to them for them to work. I bought the rooster fountain and it works flawlessly. There is a cool little food section with candy, drinks, snacks, and a lot of hot sauce. Great place.”

“We booked the Half Day class III trip and our guide was Ethan. We had a blast with him. Ethan was experienced,funny and made our trip so joyful. One of the things I like about Whitewater Voyages is that we don't have to carry our raft to the river and from the river to the bus at the end of the trip. The staff takes care of all of that. At the end of the trip, they had cold soft drinks for us on the bus on the way back. We purchased the photos from the trip and I noticed some of the photos were not. I called the company and were able to get a response right away. They contacted the photographer and got the missing photos added. Great customer service!”

“I am not a big hamburger eater but this place is special I really did love these burgers! They were tasty and had a great amount of spices and flavors. My family and I enjoyed our burgers and so did our dogs (doggy patty) We are here 2x while we were camping on the river. We came on a Tuesday and there was only one employee doing everything cooking and cashiering she was really nice and got the job done. Then came back on Saturday as we left town, 2 employees then. This place is not your typical fast food spot so don’t expect your food to be ready with in minutes it probably takes a good 10 min, while we waited we were able to enjoy the nice scenery outside and take in the sun. Definitely will be back when we are back in town. Best part of all dog friendly!”

“The only reason its 4 star not 5 star is no coin exchange. You have to go to the store next door. Otherwise the washers are good and the dryers are good. They have updated it so the floor is in good condition. Plus the customer service lady was really nice and helpful”

“Beautiful area, great camping area set up, very nice people and willing to help out the campers. 15$ overnight camping fee which is totally worth every cent. Aviation wise: Check density altitudes and be ready for some wind shears around the mountains. No fuel so plan to have enough there. No night operations which makes sense as the terrain is rising right near the airport. Touristy wise: Call ahead to schedule the rental car as you need it there. Not much to do other wise.”
