“Gate has been closed since the high water back in January. Levels are low now and no information on when it will reopen, no answer when you try to call. This is the only access to the south fork, and the prime season is now! Please reopen the gate!”

“I only stopped for a little while to take in the scenery, so I can't say much about the campground, other than there seems to be lots of parking. The vistas are quite nice!”

“I love this park. Nice and quiet. They have a rock climbing for kids, a good combination of big slides and small slides. My kid enjoys going to the park.”

“A beautiful campground in the hills near the Kern River. Our group camp up for 3 nights to escape the heat down in the valley. The campground sits around 6000 feet so it's easily 20 degrees cooler than down below. The campground has flush toilets and hot showers. The campground doesn't see too many visitors and is a little gem in the hills. I'll definitely come back!”

“Very nice drive through the area with areas throughout where you can camp, fish, and take your dirt bikes/atv/side by side. Any vehicle can access this area and camp. Earlier on the road is paved, later on the road is smooth sand. There might be areas that need AWD and high clearance vehicle, but we did not explore far enough. I will be back again to camp at the river. Updating review 2/6/23: We went back here to camp last Thursday to Saturday. The dirt road had some cracks from the water running through it, and some area needed high clearance to get through the bigger ditches in the road. We had the whole camp area next to the river and the weather was nice without it being too cold at night as long as you bundled up properly. The sky was clear and perfect with our propane fire pit and solo stove for the group. This could be a nice area to try to fish. I forgot fishing pole this time. I would come back here again.”

“Great place to bring your kids. The river here is calmer. It’s still kern so keep a close eye on them at all times the currents are very dangerous. Great spot to pan for fools gold. I’ve always had fun coming out here and nice place to come unwind from the city and see the beautiful fluffy clouds pass by. I miss it here so much!”

“Amazing park on the route between SF and LA. Was looking for a place to stretch my legs and was surprised to see that there was a beautiful new track in the middle of a bunch of farmland. The bathrooms and park were very clean and everything seemed quite new. Seemed like a great place to picnic or hang out with friends.”

“This is a great camp ground on the river. It also has 2 streams running through the camp ground that's great for little kids to play in. You are just on the outskirt of town. There is a market just down the road incase you forget to bring anything. If you don't feel like making a meal at your campsite there are also restaurants within a couple of minutes driving.”

“Great place to bring your kids to play. The playground is really wide open so the kids can actually run around, get some exercise and build up a sweat!!! Traffic is minimal making it safe to even bring your dogs. The only knock on this park is that there are a few people who walk their dogs her that don't pick up after them. They have bags there but I guess some people are just lazy.”

“The park is well taken care of and neighbors are very friendly. They have a cute little dog park with supplies to pick up after your pet. The amenities are nice with a laundromat you can control from an app on your phone for convenience. They also have individual shower rooms for privacy. The staff is wonderful and they were so accommodating to us given our trouble with inclement weather. We can’t thank them enough!”

“Rode the dirt bike track with my son today, it was a lot of fun, I could tell it was worked on some since the last time I was there, It could use a little groming, but for a small track, it has a variety of turns hills curves jumps etc. Makes for a great, exciting, exhilarating, day of riding. Recomended, has restrooms, park benches and plenty of parking for trailers, as well.”

“We love this place, it's my son's favorite park. Lots of things to do for kids of all ages. There is a very nice playset for the toddlers and two more big ones. The roller slide is always a big hit. There is a half court for basketball, a bench press, and an elliptical to work out on. Lots and lots of grass for everyone to hangout on, tables with benches, and BBQs. Everyone you meet in the small residential park is super friendly too.”
