“I had jury duty here today and thought I'd share my experience with anyone else who gets called and is curious about what it's like. They said they were doing things differently now since the pandemic, and were calling people to report at different times of day for specific trials, rather than simply having hundreds of people report early in the morning and waiting there all day, so I was to report at 12:30pm. The room we were in while we waited wasn't terribly large, and maybe would have fit between 50-100 people if it had been full, but there were probably only about 30 of us there (I have no pictures as they were forbidden). There was ample comfortable seating there for everyone, and there also was a free parking structure maybe 100 feet from the entrance to the courthouse. You had to empty your pockets and go through the metal detector, but we got to keep our shoes and belts on, and you are allowed to bring in food and drinks, although they do have vending machines and a water fountain there. There were two individual use bathrooms in the jury room for people to use, which were private and comfortable. They had us wait there until about 3:30 (so three hours, give or take), and then they said the trial we were waiting on had got a continuance, so we were all let go, having completed our service, so I can't tell you anything about what it's like if you get called. They did tell us that they no longer hear any excuses for absences in the jury room, and that you have to wait to explain your situation to the judges now, but like I said, it never got to that point with any of us as nobody was called and we were all let go. All in all it was probably the easiest and best jury duty time I've ever had. I've also served jury duty at LA metro downtown and in Orange County in Santa Ana, and this was definitely the best. Hope you get as lucky as I did!”

“At the El Monte Courthouse, I had the best judicial experience to date. When I arrived, there was a line at the door, but I needed to use the restroom. I let the sheriff know that helped me locate my name on the docket. He had compassion for me and allowed me to go ahead of the line into the building. Whew, what a relief. While I was in department 6 for a traffic violation, Judge Daniel A. Lopez was judging cases with wisdom and compassion. Everyone left the courtroom with a smile because Judge Lopez's judgments were fair and just. Some left the court with no fees to pay; others left with a reduction in costs by 75% - 80%, another will receive a refund check. Judge Lopez and his supporting staff restored my faith and gave me hope in the Judicial system. I would there be more like him in our judiciary. Thank You!”

“You have to be real bad to go here. They have a oxygen bar on the second floor next to the vending machines. They close a little early but it's invitation-only.”

“Absolutely fabulous! More than just being fast, efficient, professional, and knowledgable, I was delighted and relieved to find Albert and Omar kind, compassionate, helpful, and supportive. A real family feel which was very comforting given the circumstances. Highly recommended!”

“*I am rating my experience attending jury duty.* It was a surprisingly pleasant experience. The two gentlemen who were working in the juror room were helpful and respectable, and gave out clear explanations and instructions through the process. There was guest wifi, plugs, lots of magazines, and restrooms located inside the juror room. The room itself was a very clean and a comfortable temperature. Just a short bit away was an all around decent cafeteria. I picked up a sandwich, fries, soda, and candy for $12 and it was filling and enjoyable. We got lucky and got dismissed at 2 PM without anyone being called to the courtrooms, so I cant speak to that. I was nervous coming in this morning but overall it was a relaxing day and I got to catch up on some reading. Thank you to the staff at the courthouse that helped us make the best of having to report for jury duty.”

“I didn't care for clerk lady who had an attitude but for the reasons I went inside to handle a small claims court it was rather a breeze and although I don't know the final result I can say with certainty that the judge seemed to be fair and honest, so regardless of the outcome for that particular matter, I am happy about that. It can get busy and if you have a case for any reason be prepared to possibly stay after lunch or at the very least come back after lunch to handle your case.”

“Just watching the movie Gridiron Gang... It is a true inspiration knowing that there are people who really have sympathy for teens who really are good people that just need guidance!!! I wish they would have something like that here in Pennsylvania where I live!!! The judicial system here in my opinion, is just sad!!! The kids need compassion and love to see that it's worth it to become productive members of society!!!”

“I have some very good memories of this camp. even though I went there for the wrong reasons, it was there that I learned discipline and responsibility as a 16 year old. My counselor was Mr. Cobas at the time. I still work out and remember the morning routine we used to do before going to the dining hall. I am now 40 and I appreciate every experience at this camp.”
