“A very demanding hike that is by no means "easy," however, the 360 view of the high desert and the majestic surroundings of the mountain, makes it a destination. Located on the top of the Granite Mountains; Dead Man's Peak is the highest point in Apple Valley. The most demanding part is the end because the trail ends and the last climb is vertical but if you ascend to the left side of the cliffs it is easier than going right. "I highly suggest doing this hike in winter months when the weather is cooler; less dangers." [There are two trails that intersect to form one trail the rest of the way. This creates a "loop trail" for anyone who wants to just enjoy the mountain but not going all the way to the top; it's a nice hike as well.] The two trails are found along the ridge to the right that borders the fence of the old dump. Walk the dirt road along the fence and turn right to keep on it. The first trail is right off the road to the right not to far past the start of the ridge. It is the most scenic route. The second trial is at the end of the dirt road where it circles back around. The trail is off to the right of that circle. Just remember, "You only have to go up once." :D Have fun, Enjoy it take your time and don't rush. It's a beautiful mountain with amazing wildlife and plant life.”

“3 zip lines to ride on the property, but could only ride 2 because of the wind direction. It gives you something to do if you don’t feel like hiking to the hot springs or can’t make the hike like some of us. Zip lining was fun during the Summer with water balloons and super soakers to cool off the riders at the end of the line! And you can even zip line naked if you want! Thanks Matt!”

“My friend and I stayed here for a Saturday night. We spent Saturday and Sunday at the hot springs hiking in and out each day. The staff at the entrance were extremely friendly and welcoming. They took their time to explain the route to the springs to us thoroughly and were very helpful when we thought our dog had been bitten by a snake. I am plan to return in a few weeks with another friend because I had a great time there 😊 they also sell firewood and have a small breakfast menu if you order the night before!”

“Cramer Family Park is a green space park owned and operated by The Town of Apple Valley. Formerly known as the Mountain Vista Park, it has been renamed to Cramer Family Park in honor of the late Margaret “Maggie” Cramer. Maggie and her late husband, Walter, were actively involved in the High Desert community since 1979. They were the co-chairmen to raise the capital funds to build the "Cooper Home." She was a member of Soroptimist International of Victor Valley and the Assistance League of Victor Valley. They also established the Cramer Family Foundation, Inc. which helped promote A.S.A.P. (After School Activities Program) in Hesperia and Apple Valley. The Cramers provided years of service to the community particularly with the local youth and also donated the land for the park.”

“Same Bowen Ranch camp area & trailhead, different entrance and people running it. Been going here 20 years & it’s a vast improvement. The roads are graded smooth and having actual facilities like bathrooms & showers available is amazing. The grumpy gun toting guy is still in the shack at the old original entrance to the Bowen Ranch, but beware that it NO LONGER leads to the actual Bowen Ranch camp area and hot springs trail because there is a new fence at the property line blocking the road forcing you to hike way around and use a new trail.”

“Went camping this April with my best bud and loved the size of the grounds. Not a lot of trees around due to recent fires but firemen sure did a great job keeping the trees on the camp grounds. Will frequent this one for sure!”

“Nice campground. We came in late at night so we stole the camp host spot. He came to collect fees in the morning and was totally understanding and super helpful explaining where the other campgrounds and yellow post sites were. Unfortunately they were out of water when we went but everything was clean and well maintained. Will definitely be back!”

“This is one of the most serene Memorial Parks I have been to. The grounds are very well kept. The most breathtaking view you'll ever see looking over the valley of the desert. I have visited this location for many veterans day and memorial day events, not to mention I have family buried here. I often see people taking family photos near the main building which is constructed using Spanish influences. The northern grounds have a bridge and pond which make it a beautiful setting for many events. My daughters school held a dance in the main building, which might seem strange, it being a memorial park, but teens were restricted to the main Bldg. There is a beautiful waterfall near the entrance and ponds throughout. One of the coolest things are the family plots. The boulders have family surname's etched in them and they have created sweet little niches for each family area, both near the boulders and other open areas. There are also areas in the walls for urns. This is s stunning and serene setting for a final resting place as well as other events in the main Bldg. and northern grounds.”
