“The saddle between Timber and Telegraph peaks is an absolutely beautiful place. In one direction, you have views toward Telegraph Wash and Icehouse Canyon. In the other direction, you can look out over the Mojave. The place is filled with various pine trees and low-growing manzanita, which evoke a sense of banzai trees. Because few hikers do the Three T's (most stop at Timber), this is a great place to enjoy some serene solitude.”

“Kelly Camp is a campground along the trail leading up to Big Horn and Ontario Peaks. It’s offers generous amounts of shade from the tall trees surrounding the campground and finding a flat surface to pitch a tent is easy. During the winter time Kelly Camp is buried in snow up to 2-3 ft. deep. I’ve never been here during the summer but I hear that there is a water source at or near this campground. It’s about a 1/5 of a mile in diameter. Walking into the camp there’s a wooden sign that says ‘Kelly Camp’. You can find the campground on maps distributed at the visitor center.”

“It was so nice in there! The snow was pretty sticky, good for playing a snowball fight! Had a really nice coffee in the warm café on top of the mountain. But the best of wall was the the nice sun beam on my bear skin when I lied down on the fallen tree. Was so relaxing!”

“My favorite trail especially in the winter but if you're doing it in the winter crampons and ice axe is a good idea”

“Great place to get a snow experience. Make sure you visit the place before chain restrictions are ON. The camping ground has benches and restroom facilities. We visited on mid January. The place had nice snow and we managed to experience a snow shower as well.”

“I'm not a hiker but I enjoyed walking to the San Antonio Falls lookout. We just had a nice storm come through and left snow. There were a lot of beautiful photo ops, mountain, pines, snow, waterfalls, great shots facing south through the peaks down at the valley. Just beautiful!”

“Come EARLY! This place has limited parking that fills very quickly on weekends and even some weekdays. We got here around dawn and had no trouble getting parking and heading in. Don’t forget to fill out a permit if you’re headed in the wilderness area.”

“Nice paved walk up. Steep but gradual. Families, dogs, young and older walking. A lot of people when I went but glad I did! Waterfall flowing beautiful ! Ladder laid across over stream to get on other side but many hopped on rocks. Great views! If you want to see water and take a easy walk this is it! Not marked well from street but signage on pathway”

“Mid-January, 2019 the temps were in the mid 60s and absolutely perfect for hiking! With the village of Mt Baldy at the base of the canyon, you see quite a bit of hikers along the way and all of them friendly, happily enjoying the scenery nature has to offer. Bear flat is just a quick 1.5 miles up switchback path mostly following the creek meandering down the canyon floor. There's plenty to see along the way, including some really cool cottages. Once you get up high and east enough, breathtaking views of the metro area begin to appear.”

“Great little spot with flowing water, photos taken 8/19/2018. Place is 1/4 mile before the hiking trail.”
