“My boyfriend and I went here for his birthday! It was a nice relaxing day! We explored the whole museum except for the gem room at the bottoms floor. It was closed. We loved the taxidermy, models, skulls, and books! We love animals, so this was a great place to visit!”

“Such a plethora of knowledge about all things mineral, silver fabrication and chasing & repoussé. Multiple blue ribbon winners for first place, from the San Diego County Fair, in jewelry design are here. They are cutting stones or fabricating a piece of art out of silver or copper. The people here are kind and genuinely interested in seeing you succeed as a lapidary or silversmith. Classes are $5 as of now and the only other thing to buy is a membership. There is a museum separate from the workshops which is right by the gift shop. The gift shop has one of a kind pieces from numerous on-site artists. Support local and support handmade. I once heard statements that resonate with me to this date "Life is to short to wear machined jewelry. Shop Handmade. Shop Local." Stop in and see what it is all about they will show you around the place too! If you like rocks, jewelry or want to learn a new hobby - this is your place!”

“Went yesterday with my wife after seeing a promo on KUSI a couple of days ago. Walked around for a bit and took the hour long tour with Ranger Michelle. Terrific! Well worth the trip from Rancho San Diego. She really knows her stuff and is a great representative. Friendly and welcoming. Beautiful site in SD County.”

“Great place to come while in San Diego to see the views from Point Loma down into the city itself. Tons of great history and informational displays in the keepers home and lighthouse areas. Definitely a popular place for sightseers to visit. I recommend riding a bike up to this area if you can avoid driving. Overall, fantastic experience and recommended to everyone.”
