“Felt like a safe way to see the tourist destinations. However, even with the 2 day pass, if you get off to explore, there's just not enough time to see everything due to extended wait times to get back on a bus. At times it was faster to forego the bus and take a lyft. We encountered 4 tour guides providing live commentary out of about 9 trips, the first of which was the morning of 8/26 around 10:30 and did not follow a PC script and was screaming into the microphone multiple times while going through a tunnel. The other 3 gentlemen providing the live commentary were wonderful and shared many great facts. We took a trolley to Sausalito over The Golden Gate Bridge and also around the park loop(the green trolley) and found both of those drivers provided live commentary and were knowledgeable and personable people-was quite pleased with both and they were a highlight of the tours.”

PIER 39

Address: The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA

Shopping mall

“Great place to people watch, it's actually entertaining at times. There are plenty of places to eat, drink, gift shop, or shop for your self. Yes, need a new tee shirt, perhaps the sun is too much and you're getting burned now, even though it's a bit chilly. Be aware of the extra fees restaurant's are charging, they don't have to print it on their menu, but if they want to charge they do have to show it and explain why when you ask. So, perhaps those small vendors might be helpful after all. Bring a windbreaker, San Francisco weather is cool. Hop in a bike carriage $15 per person, Ferry Ride to Vallejo from the Ferry Building - mobile app $9.00 counter purchase $11.25 1 hour ride. There are several stores that have closed unfortunately. Plenty of transportation options in S.F. Be considerate of each other in this life, bringing forth good vibes works for all. We all share this earth, be kind where ever you vacation, kindness spreads faster than you realize. HAVE A GREAT TIME!”

“An amazing experience. The aquarium is on the smaller side so it makes for a quick visit; but what an exquisite place it is. My kids, and the others children around, especially enjoyed the underwater tunnel. They have an assortment of species that keeps the tour moving. I would suggest visiting early because it is located on Pier 39 and attracts many tourists visiting the area.”

“So, so many shiny things under one roof! This is an absolute treasure trove, with a literal treasure chest to pick thru of special shells right in the front!!! I happened to spot this on a random adventure and was quite pleased happy with their supply of shells. The shop is very well lit, allowing excellent review of products, the shells are basketed and very well marked. High quality items and what I would consider very reasonable prices. Staff was very helpful, and don't let the small space fool you. There's a lot in that, and you can't just do a window view to truly experience it!”

“My wife and I sailed on this boat yesterday for the Day Sail trip. First off I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this!!! We boarded USA 76, motored from the dock towards the cruise ship docks while we readied and raised the jib and main. At that point the motor was shut off - this is a true sailing experience, not a motor/sail party barge! We then tacked across/around Alcatraz and on out of San Francisco Bay beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. Since this was only a 2 1/2 hour trip we gybed before reaching Hawaii :) , did a downwind run back under the Bridge, along Fisherman's Wharf, and back to the area of the cruise ship terminals to drop sails and motor back to the dock at Pier 39. The whole trip offers stunning views of the San Francisco Bay waterfront, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge (both sides and beneath!). Along the way the crew of 3 utilized all who wanted to help (18 passengers) in the various tasks needed to sail a boat of this caliber (operating the coffee grinders, tailing winches, raising / lowering / bagging sails, and even steering)! While participation is not mandatory it is allowed and encouraged (it definitely adds to the experience in my mind if you are really "into it"). For those who would prefer to remain on sightseeing and porpoise / sea lion lookout those positions are available as well!”

“A rare view: the famous liberty-ship. And in very good condition thanks to motivated and passionate volunteers. Enjoyed very much the self-guide tour, which gives you sufficient information about the ship. More details can be found in the museum area. Very interestingly done! One gets a good idea of life at sea on board such a ship. For me a must visit when in San Francisco.”

Hyde Street Pier

Address: San Francisco, CA 94109, USA

Transit station

“I won't say this place isn't for locals, it's for everyone that want to know more about ships from the past. Kids may like it if they can get their hands-on experience. Bring binoculars and bundle up, it gets colder by the hour in the evening. I come here to self meditate or when I need quiet time to finish up report. Be careful where you park as break-in are rampant in the city no matter where you are.”
