“I hiked inside of rancho San Antonio county park and open space preserve for so many times over so many years. I was always wondering what's outside of the park, well, open space preserve. You can have a glimpse of a few Grand mansions deep in the woods. From any map, it's easy to tell it's Los Altos hills, a super rich and affluent town with zip zigged road. The town is pretty conservative. Residents do not like outsiders get into their life, totally understandable. And that's why they chose this exclusive location to live at first place. One Sunday afternoon this winter, I finally got a chance to ride a newly built electrical bike to explore this spot. The journey was wonderful. Along the way, I met more deer than people. Both are very friendly. The ambience is serene. You can feel the green. To get there, you have to get on foothill express way first. At loyala corner, turn towards hill direction. Follow the tiny Mora road, over freeway 280, with multiple up and down, you will reach Mora trail head at the end of the road. Well , that is not this spot, you have to back out a little bit, turn to sun hill road, a even smaller road. Not far from that point, you can get the destination.”

“Enjoyable path through trees that ends rather quickly. Then mansion viewing from the back and walking along streets.”

“Start by hiking up relatively steep slope of the Rhus Ridge trail then split to the Black Mountain trail which is mostly flat until the final portion of steep climb up. Rewarding views at the top. Trails are well kept and filled with beautiful trees and shrubs. The only downside is the parking which is a very small lot. Parking is also available at the Foothill College, add 1 more mile to the hike. No toiletries so plan ahead.”

“Very nice hidden farm for whole family. When we decided to go, I was worried if it would be too cute for older kids. Turns out it is perfect for everyone in the family. Any age group can easily find something to enjoy here. The cage free chickens, the baby piglets are huge hits with all age kids. The hiking trails are very well maintained and set. The view from trails were amazing. Will check out next year’s summer camp.”

“I feel luck to have visited this park. The trails and docks are well kept. We enjoyed exploring the trails, island and museum. This is a residential park and you need to either live close by or be escorted by a resident. There is another way to enter by walking in through the Open Space trail. It requires some research.”
