Raccoon boxes, hot showers, beer at the store. Backpackers dream.

Another stop on the Skyline to Sea Trail. The Jay trail camp is nice because it is a short walk to the Big Basin offices and shops, where you can get some ice cream after a long hike.

Before starting a hike to Lane trail camp, you first need to check in at the Big Basin Redwoods State Park Headquarters & Visitor Center (15 min parking is available). Overnight parking is available (with a permit) in the Jay Trail camp lot, which is 0.3 miles south of the visitor center on the left (east) side of Route 236.

To park at Waddell Beach you'll need to reserve a thru-hiking permit by calling park headquarters at 831-338-8861 in advance of the hike. The permit lets you park next to the ranger station, which is a half-mile up the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail from the beach.
