“This legendary Monarch sanctuary has fewer winged visitors than the "old days," but 7000 were waiting for us on a December morning. The riparian corridor meets the Pacific sand in full view of the Natural Bridge! It's easy hiking along boardwalks in the marshy areas...just a splendid, quiet day. To see the butterflies, come after the sun hits the eucalyptus grove... after 10 am. No dogs!”

“Nice overall forested hike if that’s what you’re looking for. There weren’t many overlooks with views of the landscape (at least on my trail route) also this trail camp is right by a road so diminishes a bit of that secluded feeling if that’s what you seek.”

“Nice and quiet location, situated in Seascape. It has a vast walking trail that encompasses the grounds and circles along the scenic cliffs. The benches are well suited for some relaxation amongst the fresh breeze that emits from the sea. The breathtaking backdrop of the sunsets, is ripe for a classic group picture or romantic partnership. It has a small play yard for the little ones - not so much for the older kids though. Bring your dog or bike, their is plenty of room to spread out, share the wealth of nature and find your surreal mind set.”

“Part of Pleasure Point and Opal Cliffs area. Has stairways for beach and water access. Small parking lot and bathroom near cliff top path. Great views and surfing when swell is right. Can get quite cold and windy. Make sure you have warm clothes available. It can be warm inland and cold here.”

“Clean and well-maintained, I am looking forward to spending a night here instead of only a day. They offer camping! Campfire at the beach - who thought that hygee could be outdoors as well?! It’s quite sparse with other beach goers on a weekday but could be a different story on the weekends. Enjoy the pics!”

“My kids really enjoy this park. It's huge with multiple playgrounds for different age ranges, grassy fields, and even 2 sand beach volleyball pits. I let my kids play in the sand when there isn't a game going. It's easy to spend an hour or even more here with little ones.”

“Love this park!! Especially for bday parties! Plan the party on Sundays at 3 and you are set, as Harbor Cafe closes and there is parking. Pirate ship for kids to play with/on, swings, sand, tennis courts, 3 picnic tables, bbq pit, restrooms. Grassy area. Safe for small ones as play area is way far from the road.”

“The best park with iconic views. Stunning area for pictures and a great way to have fun in the sun. Family friendly beach with a great south swell surf spot. Be ready for long waiting time for parking and access.”

“Nice KOA. Easy in and easy out. The pull through sites are narrow but long. The site we got came with a nice patio with table and chairs, weber grill, and fire pit. They also have a nice check out policy where if no one has reserved your site on the day of checkout, you can leave at 3pm for only $30. Otherwise checkout is 11 for RVs. This was great for us as we only had a 1.5 hr drive to our next destination. For those that don't have an RV, or families that have RVs but would like other family members or friends to come in and stay, they offer a variety of cabins and tiny homes near the RV sites so everyone can still hang out. The camp store was nice, has everything you may need. A bit pricey, but what camp store isn't. They have 2 dog park areas, medium sized. Some of the sites have a decent sized dog pen too for your private use. Overall, nice park. We would stay here again.”

“Oh my. What a gem. Don't let the incline scare you. There's trails all over that lead easily to the other side to the water. To the right, near the houses, is a gravel path that's really easy. The picnic area is huge and the wind gets blocked by trees and hills. It really is a fantastic spot to explore. Trails go into trees! Shower and bathrooms were nice. The only downfalls were no park officers on duty and people leave so much trash.”

“A friend commented that they felt inspired to bring their nephew to this place to share with them the amazing qualities of such an ecosystem. It’s a great place to walk around, contemplate, and draw inspiration from nature. Well worth the chill of the wind! Do be cautious as it is a bit slippery along this area and one could lose their footing if they are careless.”

“A scenic little park that is true to its name and fairly well hidden. Limited free parking on the dead end culdesac on Cliff Street or the pull off just before. Don’t miss the Little Free Library in between. Brand new all abilities playground with rubber surface in honor of a local boy who frequented the park. Lovely beach and sea views, picnic tables, benches, and sizable grassy area. Perfect for a picnic, dog walk, frisbee toss, spin around the playground, or read under the gum trees. Well loved by locals.”

“This cute park is a lot of fun for the kiddos with plenty of cool structures to climb, walk across, and balance on. It's surrounded by a green lawn In a quiet residential area. There are a few picnic tables and benches around the playground. Bonus points because it's close to the slough walking trails. My 2 yr old loved it!”

Address: New Brighton State Beach, 1500 Park Ave, Capitola, CA 95010, USA
“New Brighton Beach is a state park with campsite that range from basic to full hook ups. We had full hook ups with a very level spot. Access to the beach is available via trail or a short drive to the lower parking lot. The beach wasn't that great as it was packed and the water is not the cleanest on the west coast. But you are super close to Capitola or Santa Cruz so your options are vast. And obviously trails for various activities are abundant in the area. But we made the best of and had fun. Kids rode bikes around with no problems and plenty of other kids. Showers were clean and just like any other place needs quarters. Overall we will probably head back one day.”

“04/22/2022 Decent size free day use parking lot. No parking 10pm to 6am. Two all gender single restrooms available (flushable toilets) though they aren't very clean. One very cold public shower and there is a spigot next to shower with excellent water pressure if you need to fill gallon water jugs or for pet. Van, pickup truck or car only. Not enough room for large RV's. Beach is across street. There are paths throughout park to exercise or walk your dog.”

“Got lucky and there was a cancelation for a two night stay. We booked it immediately. It is very hard to get a spot with hookups here. I hate the price of gas but it may bring more cancellations. This beach just brings the BP down as soon as you get there. One of my happy places.”
