“Went with dear friends here for their charming New Year's We've celebration this year! It was fun and different for me and I really enjoyed how people were friendly and inclusive. We danced and danced, both before and after dinner. They had a delicious selection of appetizers upon entry out in the main gathering area, a no-host bar and complimentary water beverages. People could mingle and snack before the doors opened to the actual, lovely dining area. Inside that area there was a stage, a DJ and great entertainment. Kid and family friendly celebration! Dinner was a serve yourself buffet with classic Persian offerings. I loved it! Yum 👍 I will note though, if one wanted an alcoholic beverages for that magical midnight hour toast, you'd need to go out to the no-host bar and purchase whatever you wished to toast with... No complimentary bottles of the bubbly provided 🤔 There was no downside, security was evident, parking was ready and safe and it was a fun evening and warm way to usher in 2020!”

Mosaic Law Congregation

Address: 2300 Sierra Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95825, USA

Synagogue

“My fiancee and I recently became members; this is my perspective. If you're a young professional in the Sac area there is no synagogue that is more vibrant than this one. We have events for young professionals (hosted by the MLC2030 committee) several times a month. If you join us you will feel welcomed. This is a very active synagogue. The sanctuary is beautiful and it's also glued to Shalom School, the Jewish primary school, so the location is perfect. When it comes to sustainability they also take the cake, especially when it comes to waste-reduction. The only downside is that during services they usually do not announce the page numbers, so unless you have everything memorized you will get lost sometimes.”

“Attended a service at Temple B'nai Hayim recently and was struck by the genuine warmth and welcoming atmosphere. There's a sense of community here that's hard to find elsewhere. The Rabbi delivered a thoughtful and enlightening sermon, making ancient teachings relevant to today's world. Whether you're deeply spiritual or just seeking a place to find some peace, Temple B'nai Hayim feels like a sanctuary in every sense of the word. Definitely considering becoming a regular.”

Chabad of Bakersfield

Address: 6901 Ming Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309, USA

Synagogue

“I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chabad of Bakersfield and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The rabbi and his family are truly exceptional people - kind, energetic, and always willing to go above and beyond to make visitors feel welcome. The synagogue itself is a beautiful and peaceful space, perfect for quiet contemplation and prayer. But the real highlight for me was the holocaust memorial - it is an absolute must-see. The display of six million buttons is incredibly moving, and a powerful reminder of the atrocities of the past. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of Chabad of Bakersfield. Whether you are a regular attendee of synagogue or simply interested in learning more about Jewish history and culture, this is an absolutely fantastic place to visit. Highly recommended!”

Peninsula Sinai Congregation

Address: 499 Boothbay Ave, Foster City, CA 94404, USA

“Like my second home! Wonderful and welcoming clergy and members. Diversity is embraced. Even though it is a "Conservative" synagogue, no matter what your religious background is, you can find your place at PSC! In addition to regular services, there are also classes for adults and kids, as well as religious and social/fun events throughout the year. I encourage anyone, Jewish or non-Jewish, who has an interest in Judaism, to check out at least one of the many opportunities to get involved. Membership is not required to do so, but if you should decide to become a member, of course you would be welcome to join (no pressure at all to, though).”

Address: 3033 N Towne Ave, Pomona, CA 91767, USA

Synagogue School

“We love this place & highly recommend it! My daughter just finished her 3rd year here & next she is off to Kindergarten. The Director & the Program is remarkable. Their curriculum is great - they work on all developmental areas with a focus on the social interactions. They have a beautiful shaded outdoor play area that is hidden from the main road. The kids get a lot of outdoor time & engage in lots of different activities. They play a lot of music & have fun, all while learning routines, how to share, be part of a group, as well as embrace the kids individuality. The teachers are very nurturing, attentive and great at problem solving. They are all educated in different fields of child development. There is open communication between parents & teachers & the director too. They have a flexible schedule of mornings 9-1 or modified daycare 9-4 or full time from 7:30-6, also options for x2, 3, 5 days a week. When we first went to visit I remember standing inside the school & feeling the warmth & peacefulness of the place. I highly recommend it!”
