We camped here for a few days and I have to say that the camp site we were at was large, had plenty of shade and had the electric and water that we needed. There was plant of space for extra curricular activities and a lot of walking trails to go through as well. We really enjoyed our stay there. The biggest issue, which I get that it is a state park, was the bathrooms. They were atrocious, dirty, and generally unkempt. We didn't trust to go to them and really tried to avoid them at all costs. Other than that it was a nice place to stay.
Beautiful park to visit. Has a large camp ground and a good sized pond for kayaking and fishing. There is also a water park on location as well as a eco research center that offers educational experiences for the whole family. During the late spring and during summer there are many scheduled outdoor activities the park staff plan. Wonderful family experience, also good if your rolling solo.
Beautiful area with plently of trails, a bridge with pond area as well as a children's playground area. I always take my dog to walk on the trails for exercise (for both of us)...its always a quiet trek through the woods with beautiful scenery and a great experience but on our last visit 2 weeks ago (mid May) when we got home I noticed a eraser size tick on my dogs back, then another on his chest...so I took him outback at home and went over him with a pair of tweezers and picked 38 ticks off of him, most of them around his paws/toes with them being no bigger then a pinhead so he must have walked into a ticks nest during our 1hr and half walk...some were bigger eraser sized ticks and easier to pick off of him but the tiny ones were more difficult to remove. Took 3 hrs to pick all of them off and two baths later he was good and he is on flea/tick medication as well, I had no ticks on me though. I would suggest if walking your dog there or even for yourself to be aware of ticks, the ticks my dog got on him were Deer Ticks, a carrier of Lyme disease and I was just shocked at the number of ticks I pulled off of him on a 1hr and half walk. Other then this it's a great place for walks, just make sure to check for ticks on yourself, your kids and pets.
We had a great weekend on a camping trip here. Great wooded sites and relaxing setting. Pond is good for fishing or trail walking.
