A lovely park for a walk. The playground is a nice place for little ones to climb and play. The interstate noise can be overwhelming, but it's a nice park for families.
Garfield Park is a hidden gem that offers a delightful recreational experience for families with young children. Garfield Park's toddler playground in D.C. is a haven for young ones. With age-appropriate equipment and engaging play options, it's a must-visit for families seeking fun and enrichment.
Is it the most amazing park I’ve ever seen? No. So not 5 stars. But it is quite nice. Well lit at night. Lots of grass. Playground. Tennis court. Sand volleyball court. Park benches. Well maintained trash bins.
Nice neighborhood park. I go to play VB on the sand courts their. The sand depth is shallow, so it's easy to scrape a knee or wrist/elbow on the concrete underneath when going for a dive. Also, it'd be nice to have a better protection (tall net?) to prevent the ball from going into the trees/bushes, poor drainage puddles, or the highway (yes, I've seen a hit ball get redirected onto the highway... can't imagine what the drivers' thought!)
Update (03/26/23): Adding some lights for the sand volleyball courts would be nice, esp. since it is next to the tennis courts that have lights.
Be aware there is a homeless camp under the highway next to the park. I still felt safe during the day. All the locals seem very comfortable with it. Good selection of playground equipment.
