“Tara Park is located in the Plantation Acres South neighborhood between Hiatus Road and Flamingo Road between the North New River Canal and NW 28th Court. Construction of the neighborhood began in the 1960's and is still ongoing today. Most of the homes are single family one acre lots. Many of the homeowners who live out here own horses. Tara Park also known as Plantation Acres South Park is a large neighborhood park with a lot of trees and open green space. The back of the park borders the Hiatus Greenway so you can see people on horses and bikes as they ride by. Park amenities include swings, a playground with climbing equipment, picnic tables, and benches. It is the perfect spot to fly a kite, exercise, take the lids to play, or have a picnic. There are no restrooms so it is primarily used by neighborhood residents There also is no dedicated parking lot so if you come by car you have to pull off to the side of the road”

“Seminole Park is located in the Plantation Isle neighborhood across from Tropical Elementary and Seminole Middle schools. The majority of the park is a large open green space ideal for exercise and play. Park amenities include a half mile jogging path with 20 exercise stations. During my visit many people were exercising on the course and I joined them after I ate the picnic I brought. The park also has a restroom, a playground although part of it was boarded off, two lighted tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, two covered picnic tables which were in the process of getting new roofs, and picnic tables where I ate. Located within the park is the Happy Trails Dog Park. Pop Travers field park with softball fields and concession stands are linked to Seminole Park by a bridge over the canal. My favorite discovery in the park was a nest of burrowing owls near the sand volleyball court. Burrowing owls are considered endangered, threatened or of special concern in nine U.S. states. Unlike other owls, they are not strictly nocturnal and are active during the day. They make their nests in underground burrows, which are dug out by ground squirrels and they prefer open grasslands. A female was sitting outside the burrow and as soon as I approached she called out and the male flew out of the burrow to stand in front protect her. She's got herself a great guy. I didn't want to upset them so I left them to their peace but I did so enjoy seeing them during my little Earth Day celebration. We all have to do our part to keep the earth healthy and protect the vulnerable like these little guys.”

“Dr. Malik is amazing. I am in my second trimester right now. I am attempting a VBAC and he has made me feel so comfortable about it. He takes his time with me and makes sure I do not leave with any unanswered questions. The office staff is so nice too! I am very happy there! Update: My daughter just turned one year. Still going to Dr. Malik, and still love it there. :)”

“Before I found out about this place, I was paying membership fees to a dog park far away that is under constant watch. But this place is different. The park is always clean, it has areas separated for different dog sizes, it comes with doggy water fountains and poop bags, and best of all - it's 100% free! I love bringing my best friend here to run without a leash and make new friends. My dog always look forward to visiting happy tails, and frankly I share the same feelings.”

“This is a cute little park that is an extension of Plantation Heritage Park across the street. It has a parking lot, pavilion, pond, gazebo, a short walking path, and historic remnants of the old Peter's farm house. When I was a teenager and in puppy love with Janie Peeples, we used to come here for picnics. We would watch the families playing with their small children and talk about how great it would be to have that experience. It is definitely a great park for families.”

“Beautiful little park near an equestrian facility. It has a farmer's market every Saturday that is nice to walk through. The lady selling tea blends is awesome. She patiently answers all my questions every time. The park has more walking space than meets the eye, basketball and a large playground for the kiddies.”
