OB Johnson Park

Park

“Went there for a political rally for Kamala. Event was held in the large basketball court auditorium which looked new and well maintained. Bathrooms were large and clean. Didn't experience the outdoor park but did see a very nice looking children's playground with climbing toys and slides.”

Myakka River State Park

Address: Sarasota, FL 34241, USA

Park

“What a breathtakingly gorgeous state park. My girlfriend and I camped here, this past weekend, and it is amongst our favorite florida parks that we've been to. Not only was it beautiful, but we felt that there was so much to see and do. We commented that it was like a theme park; "let's go to this part of the park to see this," "let's go climb the tower," "I think the scenic drive would be nice," etc. There were plenty of huge gators for us to gaze at, alongside nearly endless hiking trails. I was particularly amazed at the biodiversity in Myakka. There is prairie (my favoeite), tree canopy, a river with gators, a lake with a huge variety of birds, and an awesome tower that let's you see it all from above! We only camped for one night but the space was excellent. There was a spigot and power outlet so we could keep our phones charged. Finally, the bathroom at the campsite was huge and very clean. Myakka River State Park is absolutely awesome and Im looking forward to returning!”

Kings Park

Address: 995 Chase Hammock Rd, Merritt Island, FL 32953, USA

Park

“We stopped by Kings Park after reading about its biking / walking trails, on line. Kings Park is a 240-acre community / river park located on Merritt Island and is primarily a wetland preserve and a great place for a hike or ride and viewing nature. The park was fairly secluded and had a large parking area and restroom. We road the Island Pioneer Trail which is an easy 2.7-mile out-and-back paved trail, which took us about a half hour, with plenty of stops to take photos. We did not encounter many other people while exploring. The trail winds through the hammocks and between two small lakes. We saw numerous birds and even an alligator. Road this trail again. One of our favorite short, nature, bike trails in the area. It appears they cut some of the scrub away, in areas, and it makes viewing of the surrounding waterways more visible. The park is accessible from both Chase Hammock Road on the North and Hall Road on the South, with plenty of parking and rest rooms at each end.”

Amelia Earhart Park

Park

“It was a great time, there's a nice food stand to get some snacks and drinks, there's some much space to walk around great for bike riding and you could also rent a family bike too! The barn though, the times are very unconvenient, the times are 11:00AM-3:00PM. The park great, there's a lot to do, but they remove and ban from u climbing the cave there it's a shame really. Again it's a really go place for exercise or for family, 4 stars”

Paynes Creek Historic State Park

Address: 888 Lake Branch Rd, Bowling Green, FL 33834, USA

Park Museum

“We had a lovely time today. There are at least 4 miles of well-maintained trails. The visitor center was open and available for a self-guided tour. Both restrooms and water fountains are available. The entry fee is $3 and cash only, and there is plenty of parking. The park ranger provided us with maps, so we had no problem finding the historic fort site. We didn't see much wildlife apart from an armadillo, birds, and squirrels. However, the trails were very quiet and peaceful, and the wildflowers were lovely. I would not recommend these trails for people with wheel chairs or strollers.”

Land O' Lakes Heritage Park

Address: 5401 Land O' Lakes Blvd, Land O' Lakes, FL 34639, USA

Park

“4.20.24 - Burgers and Beer had great tastings of both. I was able to sing along with just about every song. The grounds again were maintained during the event. Nice job by the event organizers and county, except for the ants. For the few events I've attended, changing areas for the vendors' booths was odd. ******* Beer festival was fun. Recently parked and rode my bicycle from there. The facility is well kept with clean bathrooms. Blues and Bourbon Festival had great entertainment, excellent Bourbon tasting, and plenty of choices eat. Perhaps a little more volume for the musicians could be allowed, and also, the MC could not be heard. There was ample seating, and the crew keeping the grounds clean did a great job. As more of these events take place, the turf grass should be maintained more aggressively. It's not going to be as nice if it turns to just dirt.”

Ashton Trailhead

Address: 4281 Ashton Rd, Sarasota, FL 34233, USA

Park

“Unique and fun play area. Has larger play gym for the older kids, smaller play gym for the tots a "gravatron", swings that accommodate all ages and needs, a little rocker seat and a zip line now upgraded with a seat instead of a handle (my personal favorite and yes, I did give it a shot), has Astroturf instead of sand or mulch, which is awesome and the entire place is fenced in so that none of the kids can escape, although I highly doubt theyd want to. Only complaint is that it does not have a whole Lotta shades so when the sun gets high in the sky, I’m sure that playground gets really really hot but otherwise really fun spot to be..”
