Paynes Creek Historic State Park

Address: 888 Lake Branch Rd, Bowling Green, FL 33834, USA

Park Museum

“We had a lovely time today. There are at least 4 miles of well-maintained trails. The visitor center was open and available for a self-guided tour. Both restrooms and water fountains are available. The entry fee is $3 and cash only, and there is plenty of parking. The park ranger provided us with maps, so we had no problem finding the historic fort site. We didn't see much wildlife apart from an armadillo, birds, and squirrels. However, the trails were very quiet and peaceful, and the wildflowers were lovely. I would not recommend these trails for people with wheel chairs or strollers.”

Bartram Garden & Trail

Address: DeLand, FL 32720, USA

Museum

“Bartram is a lovely Garden with a trail located along the St. John's river. You will learn about William Bartram who was a scholar and traveler and see it through his eyes. The garden and trail are well marked with signage telling you about Mr. Bartram and the plant material. The trail is flat, quick and very easy. Pets are allowed on a leash. There is a area for fishing along the pier and shore. You can even launch your canoe or kayak. Parking is easy. The views are beautiful especially from the overlook. There are no fees and it's open from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Park is located by the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center.”

Historic Spanish Point

Address: 401 N Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL 34229, USA

Museum

“Neat spot to walk through. Recommend going in the morning when the sun isn’t so hot! Loved the packing house views and the little church. Also liked the building with the shell wall. We wished there was more of those types of things to read and see out of the heat. Super interesting. The butterfly house was cool, but I don’t like things landing on me, so it was a quick run through for me. For $20, it’s a neat activity to do with your family or friends. Online tickets were easy to order, although there is no discount for purchasing them this way.”

The first floor has some dinosaurs 🦖 🦕 sharks and other things. It has a nature play area for kids. The bathrooms were clean. Then we went outside to the manatee area. “This is a review of the Pioneer Florida Museum in Dade City Florida. This is a self-guided at your own pace type of museum with minimal signage and interaction features so you kind of have to figure a lot of it out on your own. The grounds are well kept and everything is spaced out enough that I think even if there was a crowd you could easily walk through and not be shoulder to shoulder with anyone very nicely done.”
