Nice Boating Dock and Park. Great spot to launch from.
However, lots of people have very poor manners and attitude in launching edict and boat launching. Expect to spend some time trying to launch your boat and to get it out of the water. People will try to cut in front of you on land and in water. Tempers will rise and violence is usually threatened.
Please keep your cool. I recommend the staff try to get some police presence.
Overall it's an okay place.
Kids love this beach. Coming from the north on 19... this is one of the first beaches you come to that have white sand and a sandy bottom in the water. The swimming area is roped off to keep boaters far enough away and the water in the swimming area was only around 5 feet deep at the farthest area. Kids were swimming and found sand dollars... a shell with a crab in it and even a scallop swimming backwards. Dad had a crab hanging onto his swimming trunks and the kids were laughing.
The picnic area has plenty of trees and shade with picnic tables and there are bathrooms...an outdoor rinsing shower and extra bath houses for changing.
Definitely one of our favorite beaches in the area. The only draw back is they do not allow dogs.... but I did see dogs walking in the picnic area... so maybe they allow dogs there just not on the beach.
For a dog park/beach area you need to go up north a bit to the Anclote Gulf park with the fishing pier..they have a nice dog park there.
Great boat ramp! Beautiful area. It gets busy so go early! You do have to pay $10 to park, so don't forget after you put the boat in the water or you'll get a ticket 😉
Couple things I love, SO MUCH PARKING!!!!, even on a very busy day we were able to get in, launch and get a spot. So fair warning, if you are new to boating, get in early b/c people who have trouble launching or backing in, or steering in a wind and avoiding people, this is not an easy launching spot, people want to go go go. It's perfect place though for hitting water and getting to Anclote key in just a few minutes! If you have small craft, be very cautious some rich A-holes blew by my pontoon (20ft) w/ my baby on board in a 34-40' boat with 16 engines(sarcasm), and even when they saw her (3months old) they just laughed at us and swung close sending a 4ft wake and water over the bow. Nice folks.
This park is beautiful. The beach is lovely and the grassy spots along the river is so peaceful and serene. I loved riding along the new bike path. I understand the path will eventually connect to Tarpon Springs. I sure hope that happens soon!
