Lake Marion Creek Horseshoe Scrub Tract, South Property

Address: Haines City, FL 33844, USA

Park

“This 300 acre preserve is one of the many Southwest Water Management District Lands. It is a beautiful example of Central Florida's unique ecosystems, from scrubs to cypress swamps. This property is divided into two sections. The northern property is about 6 miles by road (see website listed for directions and map). The entrance is off Horseshoe Creek Road. There is no water or restrooms but there is a nice parking area and kiosk at both. Note: The site is called different names by the different management partners. The sign at the North entrance says, Lake Marion Creek Management Area, Horse Creek. The preserve is on the border of the South Florida Water Management District to the East and the South West Water Management District on the West. The Recreation Guide of the Southwest Management District Lands calls the site, Lake Marion Creek Horseshoe Scrub Tract. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is also part of the Cooperative and there is a sign here by them that says Lake Marion Creek Wildlife Management Area. If that isn't confusing enough it is also managed with the Polk County Board of Commissioners.”

Did not look around the park but what I did see was well kept and the place was very clean and quiet. The pool area looked clean as well. But from what I saw the place would be worth checking out if you are looking for a place to stay in your RV.”

“This place is exceptional. The cabins really maximize space and are immaculate and so cute. We thought we had booked one with an overhead loft and when we realized we hadn't requested that and were short a bed we talked to management. They let us use "the hut" which is tiny but adorable even without prior reservations. They were extremely prompt when we thought we'd blown a fuse. The lake is beautiful with a shaded dock for reading or chilling outside. The community was quiet but has bingo and shuffleboard and horseshoes. Overall a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back.”

“We spent the day visiting family at Oak Harbor. Every single person was friendly and inviting. The property is beautiful and well-thought-out, with large mature trees giving shade when it is needed during the day along with many water front sites. The long pier was fun to fish and hang out and relax for a while but with half of it covered we were able to enjoy the Florida Sun without overheating.”

“Great trail for a bike ride. Had my hybrid bike. Trail is solid hardpan and grass. Good beginner or easy ride. Simple to follow and little sugar sand. Rode in the afternoon seeing a few rabbits and squirrels eating the wild berries on the trail sides. Also checked out the large Osprey nest”
