As any high school senior, I was excited to get out of there. I happened to be there in a time of administration transition so naturally, there were quite a few ups and downs. Even in the faults, I learned quite a bit from this school. Aside from even academics, I learned about building resilience and advocating for myself. I hope everyone there is settling down and doing well. Overall, I enjoyed my time at this school.
It is our 3rd year at HCA. We have both an elementary and a high school student there. Our family has found it a pretty great fit for our needs! Our kids have made some great friends along the way as well.
We like the smaller class sizes, more one on one attention with teachers (when extra help is needed,) and the overall environment in which our kids are learning and growing.
No place is perfect but any (small) issues we have had here have been dealt with in a timely and respectable manner with teachers & admin. We are happy with HCA and after our big guy graduates we plan on keeping the elementary one there for the long haul!
We have three kids that currently attend HCA (4th, 2nd, and K). After attending a hybrid homeschool for three years and a year of full-time homeschooling, we made the transition to Horizon. My children have never been happier. They actually look forward to going to school!
The teachers and staff truly care about the students. While academically challenging, it’s also centered around Christian values. This was essential to us when choosing where to send our kids. The administration that is currently in place is solid. They are professional and genuinely take any concerns or issues to heart.
I love that it has a small school feel, but has the extracurricular offerings of a much larger school. I can’t say enough good things about our experience at HCA this year. In less than one year, we’ve seen our three children grow and flourish under the direction of the leadership at Horizon. Our family is incredibly grateful for the blessing this school has been to us.
This is our 3rd year at HCA. We have an 8th grader, 2 4th graders and a 2nd grader. We transferred from public school so that our kids could go to a school that shares the same values that we do at home. We also love the smaller class sizes. Everyone is really friendly here, and I love how they encourage and teach the older kids to help with the young kids.
HCA hired a new headmaster this school year (Dean Unsicker), who believes in transparency, encourages feedback, and isn't afraid to make changes that benefit the HCA community. We have already seen him make meaningful contributions to the school from leadership, financial and spiritual aspects.
Two of our children were very bashful at their prior school, and they have really come out of their shell at HCA due to the encouragement and kindness displayed by the teachers and other students. I love how they celebrate academics just as much as they do athletics. Our kids are thriving here academically, socially and spiritually.
Great things are happening at this school, and we're so happy that we get to be a part of it!
