They offer 1 on 1 lessons. We were connected with A. Haskins, awesome experience. The progress she has made is exactly what I was looking for. The lessons pool is shallow and heated.
If you are looking for more advanced training, they do that too. The team they are training look like precise soldiers.
Hugh Convery has run an excellent program at GAGA for 16+ years, and prior to that, as a disciplined coach at Dynamo Mountain Park. His methodology was to inspire children to do their best in the pool. Believe it or not, his reticence does not mean he's not paying attention to your swimmer, but that he and all the other coaches are studying what makes that individual "tick" and to find a way to motivate them and challenge their technique in the pool. Improvement often means "beating the clock." Swimming is not a sport based on subjective critique, thankfully.
Kids need to know their own times for races, in order to improve. There is no camaraderie so great as the tough kid who repeatedly dives into a cold winter pool, works out hard, makes life-long friends, and excels at a sport that never gets the attention of football, baseball, soccer, etc. Yet, Michael Phelps still is the most decorated Olympian ever, and certainly our 2021 Olympics will show this sport is still so relevant, and how our American team will rock again, once more.
A hidden gem. Lessons all year round, so there's great consistency. My son has been coming for about a year and he's made leaps and bounds as a swimmer. He loves coming to practice. He's had a number of different instructors, and they all were great (Bailey, Kayley, Griffin, Wesley, Grant, Sara and Sara; I feel bad about missing a name...) ! The groups are small, so the kids get individual attention. Never a complaint about the facility or instructors. Hugh and Elle, who run the program, are wonderful as well. We will becoming here for years.
So far the swimming program is great. They are teaching my 5 years old how to swim. The facility is nice and warm during the winter and the kids are having fun. I wish they have a summer camp. Then I would give Gwinnett Aquatics 20 stars. I recommend Gwinnett Aquatics to kids who want to learn how to swim and competitive swimming.
