Fantastic physical training and therapy services for overhead throwing athletes. Two of my sons who play travel baseball have used Athletic Edge and Wellness services. They have deep experience with players who have elbow and shoulder injuries plus are experts in strength and mobility training, arm care, and recovery.
Kathy helped my 14 year old son after he pulled his hip flexor playing soccer. She spent a lot of time with him evaluating the problem and then helping with the therapy he needed to fix it. She then gave him exercises to continue at home and to prevent the injury in the future. She was fantastic to work with and I am happy to say he had a great freshman soccer experience in a grueling season without any problems at all.
Kathy worked on my ankle my junior year of high school. I injured my ankle between football and track season of that year and required surgery. I had surgery in December of that year and began physical therapy. I was very motivated to get back in time for track season as my goal was to complete in football and track at the college level. Initially, I had therapy at a local chain. While I actively participated in therapy and did all of my home exercises, the movement needed to throw Shot Put would not come back. Eventually, I was discharged from therapy and began treating with Athletic Edge and Wellness. The work was hard, but totally worth it! I got back to track and football! My senior year, I started Varsity playing both Offense and Defense! Track was equally as successful. I set personal bests and won All County for the second time in my high school career. I am now competing at the college level in both tack and football and enjoying a lot of success! I owe much of my improvement and subsequent success to Kathy and Athletic Edge and Wellness!
Kathy Ryan-Ceisel and Athletic Edge and Wellness are highly recommended for Physical Therapy rehabilitation, athletic evaluations and expertise in improving mechanics and increasing athletic capacity.
My experience with Kathy has been from several perspectives; as a patient myself, as the parent of a patient and as part of an organization that leveraged her skills and expertise.
In every situation, Kathy was thoughtful, thorough in diagnosis and treatment and followed up with caring and insightful recommendations beyond any prescribed treatment to ensure full functionality was restored. As a patient, with the fear inherent in initiating post-surgical rehab, she exhibited the gentleness needed to get rehab activities initiated, flexibility to change pace and progress and she ensured that goals were met to accomplish rehab effectively.
As the parent of a patient I appreciate Kathy's thorough evaluations and explanations, her hard work to apply appropriate therapies and prescribe post-treatment work for our athlete and her caring approach toward both patient and parent. Kathy's skilled and caring approach helps both patient and parent through what could be a highly stressful period.
Finally, in my experience as part of several organizations that Kathy has helped, she is generous with sharing her expertise through assessments, recommendations and providing care when needed.
For these reasons and more (she's pretty funny, too), I highly recommend the services of Kathy Ryan-Ceisel and Athletic Edge and Wellness for those who need Physical Therapy for themselves, for their children/adult athletes or for their organization.
Within the past two years, my son was struggling with sports injuries effecting his back, hip, and kept pulling his hamstrings - and now he is having elbow pain. With each injury, we started off at the Orthopedic's and was referred to a physical therapist. (My son went three days a week, for several months.) The therapist concentrated on the injured area(s) - but my son didn't see much improvement. Frustrated and eager to return to his sport, we searched for more help. He went to a chiropractor for several months, bought expensive insoles for his shoes, and even tried a different physical therapist. Two years later, and still no improvement. Recently we contacted Kathy Ceisel at Athletic Edge and Wellness and was amazed!!! Kathy did a full body assessment, saw right away the problem areas, and made recommendations to help strengthen weak areas - which will also help prevent future injuries. She took video of my son throwing and went frame by frame; explaining how his motions were restricting him from his optimal performance...which was then causing stress on the arm. None of his baseball coaches noticed the stiffness and his constricted range of motion, that was putting lots of stress on the elbow, which in turn was causing all his pain. (We are so thankful that Kathy noticed!!! Over time, he would have torn mucles and would have damaged the elbow to the point of needing surgery.) We were very impressed with Kathy's knowledge and so relieved that finally - he is on the right track to getting better! Kathy was professional, very thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and took the time to answer our questions. She also walked my son through all the exercises and even gave him a baseball drill that will help too. In such a short time, my son is already seeing a big improvement with the exercises Kathy gave him to work on! I highly recommend Kathy and Athletic Edge and Wellness!!! She is just phenomenal!!!
Kathy did a great job fixing my hamstring and knee and getting me out on the field again!
