“Absolutely beautiful! Be sure to grab the Self-Guided Tour pamphlet at the admission counter. Species from around the world are in the temperature and humidity controlled conservatory. The Sunken Gardens boast seasonal flowers and many benches on which to sit and reflect. Blake's Garden is an adorable little children's garden presided over by resident chickens. The outdoor gardens are free, and admission to the Conservatory was $3 on the day I visited. Well worth the price of admission!”

“A bit hidden. I like this park because there is never really anybody here and the surrounding trees make it feel secluded. Also right next to the river. Not much of a park but it has swings, a slide and picnic tables.”

White River Gardens

Address: 1200 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46222, USA

Park

“Gorgeous in the spring and summer. Free admission with Zoo admission. This garden is the gem of Indianapolis. It's not only beautiful and well maintained, they have an indoor butterfly "garden" as well. In the gardens there are nice, picturesque almost private little nooks to rest in, a big beauful space for weddings, fountains, ponds, water lilies, a zillion different flower species and some whimsical animal statuettes. At first I felt the whimsy was out of place. The next time I went, I really looked at them and they are fun and one particularly hilarious statuette of 3 ducks walking on the edge of a pond and the middle duck is expounding with his wing, and looks like he wants to push that duck into the water. This one gave me the biggest laugh! This place is definitely a must-see in Indianapolis!”

Pogues Run Art and Nature Park

Address: 2300 Dequincy St, Indianapolis, IN 46218, USA

Park

“I've already posted a bunch of pictures of this park so no more right now ;) This is one of my favorite parks in Indy. Aside from Eagle Creek, it has a great variety of bird species. It is perfect for running because it has a fine gravel path that's 2.5 K all the way around, so 2 laps makes about 3 miles. I've seen several community volunteers tending to it frequently. And It was just given a 1st place national award for multi neighborhood restoration project. Only negative is the roaring of the interstate. I'm hoping when the newly planted trees grow up, it will deaden some of the sound.”
