“I enjoy walking through the park. When I began my walks 2 years ago (November 2015), it was a wooded area with bathrooms and a splash pad. But now they are developing apartments and business places. There is now an amphitheatre, a playground, new fire department, and the police department has taken over what was "Portage University." So I guess it is nice. Seems well thought through development. I'll miss the days when it was wooded and I had AM walks all to myself. Visit and enjoy.”

“This beach is amazing! It's great for the whole family including me and my two sets of twins!!! Emma and Michael, Annabelle and Johnny are begging me to go back this year! I plan to go this weekend! I searched up the pics from last year and I'm sharing the amazing experience with You! The parking is easy. Bathrooms are standard beach bathrooms, so bring flip flops to walk in there when you wash up. The shower water was cold. That was the only thing that they could enhance on. A better bathroom experience when cleaning up after a day at the beach.”

“Love this park, with beautiful beaches, dunes, trails, and forest. The fresh air form Lake Michigan was very nice. Entrance fee per car is $6. I really enjoy my visit to this national park.”

“Fun, sun, waves, breezy, sand, and clean (for a beach). We had an amazing time without have to fly to an exotic location spending thousands of dollars. Wish we would have done this sooner! 🤩🤩”

“Great preserve. After being welcomed by a couple tall Oaks you see the signage for the trails that were clear, informative and helpful. Especially being it was late fall and you couldn't tell where the trail was due to the big beautiful yellow leaves blanketing the forest floor so the clear and consistent signage was very helpful. However, the trials need some tlc WHICH could easily be fixed by a chainsaw experienced volunteer (ooo mee mee. Raising my hand. lol). There was a Pet Station available just off the small parking lot which was nice a nice addition. Like the trail signage the "Informative Signs" were awesome, well written, and well kept. The Zona family seems like a pretty nice family from what I've read and the sanctuary they provided for us is really something great. I actually stumbled across it while searching for a particular GeoCache. :^)”

“Like most of the places we visit this was for birding. A wonderful place to bird in the Indiana dunes national lakeshore area with lots of bird of prey, shore birds and a great variety of birds in the nearby heron rookery.”

“Everyone is able to enjoy a nice stroll through the woods here. The path is accessible to strollers and easily walked by small children. Quiet time and a good place to get out there.”

“Beautiful hidden gem of the county parks system. Former residence of a botanist, and it shows. The garden and trails are abundant with spring bulbs and flowering trees in the spring. It’s a perfect balance of natural and manicured space with such a clever, unique variety of perennials and evergreens amongst the natural wooded setting throughout the park. It’s centerpiece is a uniquely designed home, now available for parks programs or private rental. In the summer, be sure to pack bug repellent— it’s quite dense with mosquitos during wetter, hotter days.”

“So much fun here. Very quiet and family friendly. Yet enough space between spots that adults will not be bothered by children. Very clean showers and toilets. Check in machine kind of stinks, but the park helpers are awesome and can handle everything.”

“Very large campground with a mixture of sights, a couple cabins and a pool. It's pretty far from the beach and seems to be in a residential area. We stayed in a tent site that had some shade and plenty of space. Everything was clean.”

“Holy cow! This place has an AMAZING playground!!! They have an entire section dedicated to children ages 2 - 5. There are many slides and swings of all kinds. Tire swings, baby swings chair style swings and more. There are several castle-type wooden play areas with bouncing bridges, sliding rails, climbing walls and more! Free parking, free to play.”

“Beautiful place for a short hike, especially in fall. Definitely wished there were more trails (only 2 different trails). The trails were in good condition and the combination of hills and woods makes it one of my favorite places to go in the area. Also is very quiet and did not see many people around.”

“Every time I visited I was treated with utmost compassion and respect. Whenever I have questions they always replied promptly and answered all of my questions. I was very pleased with the burial service. Everything went as well as I could have expected. Graceland Cemetery staff was very courteous and polite during my difficult time.”
