Gunpowder Falls Trailhead

Address: 1001 Falls Rd, Parkton, MD 21120, USA

Park

“One of the best trails I have ever been on. Great for fishing and photography. Go there in the early hours and you will not be disappointed. I have been around the world and the fog in the trailhead over the water has trumped all other views.”

Masemore Water Trail

Address: Gunpowder Falls, Parkton, MD 21120, USA

Park

“The volume of rain we had this summer washed out our favorite rock beach, so our family wasn't able to experience our usual rock skipping fun. It is still a beautiful place to relax and bring the dogs for a quick cool dip. The water is super clean and very cool despite the summer heat.”

Masemore Hemlock Ravines Natural Area

Address: Hilltop Ct, Parkton, MD 21120, USA

Park

“This hemlock forest is rather interesting. It lies on the North facing slope of the Gunpowder River. Because of the reduced sun exposure it has a more Northern ecology than neighboring areas. It is interesting to cross the river and see the change in flora on the warmer, sunnier south facing slope. The trail along the riverside is a nice place for a day hike. Bring the dog and watch the Kingfishers and Herons, the Beavers, Water Snakes, and the variety of other animals that live in and around the river.”
