“What a beautiful, quiet, and small campsite. It’s really tucked in and hidden behind a trail, which means it can be quiet, but also have a lot of foot traffic. There are no more than 8 sites so be sure to get your spot locked in! I LOVE that this is right along the river. It’s also incredibly close to Great Falls, if you want to walk 3.5 miles on the towpath to get there.”

Seneca Ridge Trail

Address: 16899 Riffle Ford Rd, Darnestown, MD 20878, USA

Park

“NICE NICE NICE! Came on a warm May Saturday and there were 7 cars in the parking lot and in the street, atleast 5 people were fishing and the rest likely on the trail. I took the Ridge trail to Germantown road (no side walk/crossing) and walked up the road to the Seneca Creek Greenway and walked back against the creek. It was a bit scary to walk so close to traffic and I will be putting a suggestion to the park management to make the trip a bit more safe in the future. The trail was not too busy, mostly hikers and bikers. The ridge was busy with bikers while the Greenway was mostly quiet and had hikers. The ridge trail was clearly marked and clear of most hazards. The Greenway was more grassy and had sections that had some low grass. THERE WERE TICKS ON OUR PANTS, but what do you expect when hiking at this time of the year. Started at 7:30 came back at 12:30 and the parking lot was full - but still had space in the middle for creative parking and street side parking. Highly recommend for hikers and bikers.”

Aberdeen Local Park

Address: 12231 Triple Crown Rd, North Potomac, MD 20878, USA

Park

“This is one of the nicest parks in Montgomery County. It's well maintained, beautiful, and full of things to do. There is a detailed playground, a volleyball sand pit, a basketball court, a soccer field, and a spacious gazebo with a grill. Is is a great place to visit if you feel like getting out of the house. If your in the mood for a bike ride, the park is a very centralized location. It's less than a 30 minute bike ride to the Kentlands or the Rio, both very nice shopping centers with lots to do. I'd definitely recommend visiting Aberdeen Park if your in the radius of North Potomac.”

Dufief Park

Address: 11336 Brandy Hall Ln, North Potomac, MD 20878, USA

Park

“Using the main soccer field. Field is a little bumpy and lots of deer deuce, but nice field. Porta potties are available on site as well. Kids play area does not have swings, but there is a fun seesaw and a small jungle gym with a slide. Good place for a nice walk. Three tennis courts available as well, nets did not look very saggy.”

Clopper Lake

Address: Gaithersburg, MD 20878, USA

Park

“One of the nicest, lakes I've been to! If you love the water, and woods it has a nice beginner to intermediate level trail! Roughly 4 miles or so completely around the lake! Close to the highway to jump off for an hour or so to enjoy the lake and trail! Usually pretty quiet this time of year! Summer is their busiest time! So, if you love nature or just want a quiet place to meditate! Clopper lake has it! Great for couples, and family! Dogs allowed, but must be leashed! Hope you enjoy as much as I do! PS: trail is marked with blue ???? paint on the tree's so you won't get lost or hung up in the bushes! ????????????????????”

Muddy Branch Greenway Trail trailhead

Address: 15332 American Way, North Potomac, MD 20878, USA

Park

“Unfortunately muddy in large segments of the trail. Still fun and enjoyable riding the alternate route along the branch. Things get really fun after crossing quince orchard road where there’s a lot of up and down and bouncing among the rocks and roots.”
