“Comfort, clean, relaxing and YUMMY breakfast. Right on main street, so perfect walking distance from everything St. Michael's has to offer. The ceilings of the Inn are a bit low though, my husband who is 6'4 hit his head a few times when we first arrived. He wasn't too happy about that..”

“We decided to take a trip to St. Michaels to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary this past weekend. Unfortunately, I waited until the week before to find a place to stay. The first several places I called were booked, but fortunately, one of the other B&B owners suggested I call the Snuggery. Since I hadn't contacted them yet, I gave it a shot...and they had a room available! Whew. My wife and I really had no idea what to expect since we'd never been to St. Michaels before, but I can honestly say in hindsight that our trip wouldn't have been nearly as special if it weren't for the hospitality and local knowledge of Phil and Carolee, the Snuggery's proud owners. Every morning we woke up to a delicious breakfast that took into account the dietary restrictions we shared ahead of time. They also provided a nice little fridge full of beer, water, and soft drinks, which I thought was a nice touch. We took Phil's and Carolee's advice several times on which restaurants and/or activities to check out, and were never once disappointed. The Snuggery is the oldest house in the town, and perhaps the most centrally located. Everything we wanted to do was within a short walk. The room was very comfortable and private (we stayed in the room downstairs). It was an amazing, magical weekend, and we feel that the Snuggery, Phil and Carolee (and their lovely niece Audrey who was visiting for the weekend) were a wonderful part of the experience!”

“We stayed at the Dr. Dodson house this past weekend. Fortunately the third floor suite was available. It was newly renovated; the innkeeper, Janet, had anticipated how the space could be optimally utilized and it was done so with a lot of thought, comfort and taste. The house is one block away from the main street and one block away from the harbor and St. Michael's Maritime Museum; we parked our car when we arrived and were able to walk to enjoy shopping, restaurants and the harbor all on foot. Kudos to Janet for the wonderful stay!”

“Aida was a great host: friendly, efficient and informative. Her place is very cute and clean. The location is perfect for strolling through St Michaels. The quality of the breakfast she served was excellent. She was off street parking for her guests. Two large porches are great for early morning coffee. Well done Aida.”

“The staff were just great, very good-natured and helpful. Peter was just great in handling my forgetting a gift card that our daughters gave us. The pick-up service to and from town from 4-11 p.m. was really a boon.. The gratis breakfast was delicious, and the people working the breakfast were pleasant and helpful. The omelets were delicious. The view was beautiful from our room. The room could have used larger lamps; I had a hard time reading with the tiny lamps and such a high ceiling. There just wasn't enough light in the room. Two comfortable chairs would have been nice, too, instead of one. The wooden furniture looked kind of old and worn but adequate. The cleaning staff were most courteous and the room was clean.”

“We were married here 15 years ago and have stayed overnight many times before and since. The inn is beautiful as are the rooms we've stayed in. The staff is very courteous and caring. My one wish would be more choices for breakfast. The breakfasts are delicious but just adding oatmeal as an option would provide a decent choice for those of us who don't eat eggs. Then again I didn't alert them before we came so if I had, it's possible they would have been able to make some arrangement. Otherwise, who could ask for a more romantic setting?”

“The 5 Gables Inn is nice. Great location. However walls in the main building a paper thin. Like staying in a tent between the rooms. Some nuts in the next room got into an altercation and made for a tough night. Hotel management came and quieted things down. We left in the morning after a nice breakfast. Didn’t ask for any compensation but may look for another place to stay next time in St Michaels.”

“My experience there was EXTRAORDINARY! If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Service is AMAZING! I felt like I was treated like Royalty. The valet staff is very courteous & friendly. The front desk is very welcoming and helpful. Vickie in the restaurant is a true professional. Chance who did the wine judgement was knowledgeable and entertaining. I just can't say enough good things about this place. Brunch was one of the best I've been to. I can't wait to go back! LOVE THIS PLACE!”

“Historic building in the middle of beautiful shipwrights town of St Michaels Maryland. Part of the old brick inn, rumor has it Robert E Lee ghost can be seen on the steps. Love the character of this place and the staff is great.”

“Lovely restored building made GBH into a B&B with beautiful gardens and pool. The pool, the surrounding patio and porches, and the quiet location off the road and 1/2 mile from downtown St Michaels boost the ratings to a 3 1/2 - 4 star. The pictures of what has been done to get the B&B from a run down heap 20 years ago to this point is amazing. (Album in parlor.) All buildings need steady maintenance and upkeep. This one needs some attention inside and out. Walking around - the porches had spider webs which with a little TLC could have been brushed away to spruce things up. The vinyl siding was dirty and needed a power wash to spruce things up. A power wash would have handled the grime and webs. As I said the gardens and pool are beautiful. We lingered around the pool for socializing, swimming, and cooling off. The pool and gardens are highlights that we enjoyed and they lived up to our expectations. Enjoyed outside fridge for cold drinks and ice poolside. Pool towels were provided. The beds were ok, rooms nicely appointed yet a little tired looking. For example, toilet seat in our bathroom was broken, not repaired as we were told it would be within next bit of time. Careful inspection as room was cleaned after previous guest would have revealed that need for maintenance man to fix. Liquid bath soap and shampoo bottles were refillable - great green idea, but bottles looked tired (reused too many times?) and needed more liquid in each. All would have been overlooked, had the AC worked well. Some mechanical problem made for no AC for upstairs rooms - ours. Owner remedied by moving us - for the night- to another B&B that by comparison was very neat and well appointed. The GBH had queen beds, the other had king beds. Notable better night's sleep. Came back for breakfast and to be with other half is our party. (Second couple.) GBH had keurig coffee set up. As tea drinker, I would have appreciated an electric kettle. Tea through a coffee keurig is tainted by coffee. Owner, chef, responded by microwaving mug of water for me in the kitchen/office. I went into kitchen space for hot water only to find more clutter than one would expect in business' kitchen setting. Lots of office papers/mail on counter versus cook prep space. BGH seems to need either chef and/or secretary to maintain order there in office/kitchen. Owner wears many hats: receptionist, booking agent, chef, waiter, tour guide, and maintenance man. He needs another person to do maintenance in a variety of areas. He has a great vision for GBH, needs people to do maintenance for implementing that vision. Again, St Michaels is a lovely spot. We had a great visit that was not dampened by a few negatives.”

“Private cottages were well equipped. Beautiful view of the cove. So many extra amenities that most don't offer. Jamie and Alex are so nice. Definitely will be coming back. Bed and Boat is such a unique feature. Great location, so close to St. Michael's, but far enough away to avoid all the noise.”
