“My family and I have been going to Dr. Mai for various ailments for decades as he is a reputable and well-trusted doctor within the Chinese community and he is able to speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Beyond that, he prioritizes the care and well-being of the patient and dispels any concerns they may have about acupuncture. What really differentiates Dr. Mai is his diagnostic prowess - with a simple touch or examination, he can quickly pinpoint the location of the pain and create a treatment plan to target the route cause. For those like me who may have trouble describing the pain they’re feeling or explaining the intensity of the pain on a scale of 1-10 (pain is so subjective, that hardly ever works for me!), this ability of his is truly remarkable and where other doctors have failed me, he really was the only person who could diagnose my symptoms accurately and provide a course of treatment w/out pain medication. This was especially the case when my back started spasming last year. I went to see my PCP who did a basic examination that involved moving my leg this way and that and the only treatment I got from that appointment was over-the-counter ibuprofen. Since the spasms came on spontaneously, it was hard for me to describe the pain since it would come and go, but when the spasms did start, the pain was crippling to the point where I didn’t dare move. After finding no relief with my PCP, I went to see Dr. Mai. It was a far cry from the treatment I received at my PCP office! He could immediately tell that my lower back was extremely swollen (something my PCP missed) and not only that, but he knew that it wasn’t just my lower back, but also my piriformis muscle. I have to say after that one treatment, my spasms completely disappeared. I continued going to see Dr. Mai for the next few weeks just to make sure the pain went away, but the worse of it was over after that one session. I’m so grateful for Dr. Mai – he continuously blows me away with his knowledge of the human anatomy and as far as I’m concerned – he’s a miracle worker! He is honest and has such integrity with his patients – he is my go-to doctor!”

“I went to Dr. Loewenstein for lazy eye therapy. That was in 2010 maybe. I believe it lasted a year or so. He's honest and makes funny jokes. When he thought what he could do for my eyes were at a max point, he tells me that is all we can do and I really appreciated that. I was 25 at that time and treating lazy eye at that age is extremely difficult. My vision for that particular eye is barely existent. He helped me understand how to control the movement of the lazy eye. But was honest that the vision is as good as it gets and that it won't ever get better. Having a turned eye had and could affect an individual's confidence, so having little control of it prior to the therapy, I was extremely conscious of people staring at me. Now, I feel more in control and less conscious. We have also been back for our annual eye exams, now with our 5 year old daughter. We will continue to bring the family back for eye exams. The only place we will go. Hoping Dr. Loewenstein doesn't think about retiring yet =)”
