As time ticked down to 10:30am the place was crawling with very happy and joyful elderly people who carried on their conversations and all seemed to be in a general good mood. “Their ginormous apple danish is my favorite treat to get here(!), but this time I also picked out a apple turnover too. Both were absolutely delicious and had lots of apple slices/chunks in them. Very clean and neat store. The only critique I’d have is I wish they always had labels for every baked good that is set out in the area where they put the cookies and sweet rolls etc. Often times (like the most recent time I visited) it’s kind of a mystery or there’s no label at all for most items that I can see. It’s just a quick convenience thing though. Looking forward to trying their quiche another time too!”

“I hit the jackpot. I came to Dumlao's -- in search of a place to learn to defend myself -- after checking out many major Brazillian Jiu Jitsu schools around the bay area. I had a previous injury from another popular BJJ gym and Dumlao's gentle and friendly style of Jiu Jitsu was perfect for me to rehabilitate the injury while still progressing/learning in BJJ. When I was finally able to get serious about Jiu Jitsu this school did NOT disappoint! When you sign up for the BJJ program at Dumlao's -- you have automatic access to 4 different affiliate BJJ schools in the area (Sabre, East Bay Academy, New Creation, Train for Life); each school offering different specialties and atmospheres -- enough to train a range of people (hobbyist to amateur MMA fighters to pro fighters). I owe so much to Dumlao's, they'll always be my home gym/family. I came in unconfident about myself; I left a better person, knowing I can handle not only physical threats but also life's hurdles.”

““Fancy Latte” Came here to pick up drinks to meet a friend, on their recommendation, and needed them to travel. No scoffs at the request for double cups, and they were happy to answer my questions. They gave great recommendations, and the attention to detail in the drink making was extremely impressive. Sorry the visit was short this time. I plan to drive the 20 minutes again to get the full experience! Had the “fancy latte” (vanilla and cardamom I believe!?), and it was delicious.”

“The waffles are really good. Since the place is always busy and there are never seats open, you kind of have to hover over other tables and pressure them to give up their seats which can lead to uncomfortable situations for both sides. 4 waffles took about 30-40 minutes to come out, seems sort of unreasonable because they were pretty simple orders. Approx $8 per waffle seems a little excessive, but they were really good and can understand the need to have high prices since they're a small business.”
