Always enjoy visiting William O'Brien State Park along the St. Croix River on scenic MN-95 no matter the season. A great place to hike, camp, picnic, canoe/kayak, swim and fish with beautiful views. Nice park office, gift shop, visitor center, and camper cabins too. Something for everyone with easy access Lake Alice...and only an hour's drive from the Twin Cities. Check it out!
Most of the trails are level 2, easy for most. Visit this park during the week or the off season to really enjoy all that it has to offer.
Today was 33 and a light mist, perfect and peaceful!
Close to the East Metro and plenty to see. The trail along the river is easy and a lot of color in the fall. Neat little creek flowing into the St. Croix river that is fun to hike up as well.
No cell reception whatsoever (Verizon in Fall 2022) in the entire lower river front part of the park.
This is a solid state park for beautiful scenery around Lake Alice. People come here to camp, to canoe, to swim, to fish, and to hike. There is something for everyone to do. Besides, the view from the end of a trail around the lake is gorgeous. The Cascade Falls is also very closeby, so make sure you check it out at the same time when you are around the area.
