Jones and Whites Creeks trails are two of the more popular trails in the Galena Recreation area. The trails can be accessed fro the trail head at the Galena Visitors Center or from the trail head on Timberline
The trail loop is 9 miles with over 1000 ft gain. Hiking only part of the trail provides excellent views of Reno and Washoe Valley. In the fall, the Aspen groves on the Jones Creek trail are in full color in mid October.
Rigorous uphill trail hike with beautiful Forrest scenery along the way to churches pond!
The trail was intense and it is cold in the evening. Not a beginner's trail for sure.
Great parking lot with clean pit toilets and a dumpster. Dog waste bags are provided as well. Trailhead has 2 entrances both well marked and easy to find even in the snow. A map is also posted with the trail system.
Favorite hiking loop in Galena. Great views, well maintained trails and plenty of shade and water during the warmer months. Good trail running loop too. Approximately 9.2 miles total.
