“This is such a beautiful, tranquil space. I walk along the trail here several times a week and always feel refreshed. There are always people walking their dogs, so if you're a dog person this is heaven! I never see any trash, and the grass is always freshly cut. I am fostering a kitten and took her on walks here every day. There are tons of grassy areas to have picnics, and a lot of shade from overhead trees. Truly gorgeous.”

“After nearly 7 years of blood sweat and tears, the Village Neighborhood Association (VNA), in collaboration with the Jersey City Parks Coalition ,the City of Jersey City, and the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, is proud to announce the opening of the newly renovated Village Park. The park’s chain-link gates were locked in 1984 after only ten years of being unveiled as part of then-Mayor Paul Jordan’s “Legacy of Parks” campaign. Within that span, the park suffered irreparable damage due to vandalism, crime, and a lack of general maintenance. Village residents had no other recourse but to shut down the park. Consequently, deterioration and further vandalism virtually turned the site into a neighborhood eyesore and embarrassment. Times have changed. The Village, like other Downtown Jersey City residential districts, is undergoing a real estate and cultural renaissance. The VNA, a non-profit corporation formed by Village residents, was determined to reinvent the First Street Park (now Village Park) site into a neighborhood amenity that will erase all civic scars and add to the Village’s ongoing rebirth”
