John is a true master and his team is exceptional.

My now seven year old son has been training here for the last 6 months and we both love the experience. From Mary's welcoming hello to the very detailed instruction received on the mat, each class is a very positive experience. To add to that, the other parents here are all very friendly and welcoming which is a big plus. One particularly great aspect you don't often see in other martial arts school is the instructor giving respect back to the kids. There is no yelling by the instructor here at the kids here. John demands they respect him and each other and in turn treats all the kids with the respect any adult would want. This is resulting in very well behaved, respectful students who act that way not because they are being yelled at but because the concept of mutual respect is a core component of John teaching philosophy. I believe this approach is helping my son in all aspects of his daily life, from school to playground. I highly recommend Spartan Mixed Martial Arts.

I love the atmosphere when we walk into Spartan Mixed Martial Arts, because we're treated like family. Each time my children and I walk in we're always greeted with a smile by both Coach Jon and Mary whom sits at the front desk. Coach Jon is AMAZING, because he teaches my children how to be kind, respectful, and treat others the way they want to be treated. He's very KNOWLEDGABLE in his TECHNIQUES in MIXED MARTIAL ARTS and SUPERB with KIDS!

Monmouth BJJ Academy is a great place to train and learn the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Jon Heleotis is an amazing instructor and certainly the best around. His attention to detail and personalized instruction for every student is unmatched regardless of skill level. The training atmosphere encourages the beginner to learn and the more advanced student to excel. The precise instruction not only enforces technique, but also an understanding of how various positions flow together. This type of instruction builds the right foundation and this is exactly what Jon provides. Whether you’re a beginner or a serious tournament competitor this Academy is the place to train. Not only do I train here, but my 6 and 11 year old daughters are also part of the amazing kids Jiu Jitsu Program. The kids program provides an encouraging, safe and clean environment where kids acquire amazing skills while having fun! Overall the team is ego free, humble, encouraging and competitive. I highly recommend the Black Belt instruction provided by Jon.

Love this place! John is a great instructor. I have been training for years and many of them with John in other schools before he had his own. John focuses on his students and takes pride in them. No ego trips or bullies. Easy going and competitive environment with a lot of one on one help. Students all seem to be good people and very helpful to each other. Starting new programs and adding other martial arts. For those that want to REALLY learn Jiu-Jitsu this is a great place to learn.
