“Amazing Park and tons of trails for biking hiking and running. On top of this there are woods cut for a gas line for ATV and gas vehicles. Along with this the NJ botanical garden is located here. For the woods the middle school lot or lot 3 are best, other lots also work, be careful of pedestrians on road while driving through park. Busy on nice weekends as well.”

“For new jersey, this is a fun, fairly strenuous hike. However, the vibe is a little off around the monksville reservoir due to power lines, old stripped/rusting cars, many atvs, and one very sketchy home with several packs of caged dogs in the backyard (welcome to one of northern nj's many interesting hidden gems). The wanaque ends of the trail are fun though.”

“The review title should be "Green". It is far away from main town of new Jersey and new York. But you won't feel boring because of the beautiful road. The road going through the forest ups and downs. Beside the road there is a lake. Inside the garden there are lot of beautiful trees and flowers. Some statues are available in the garden.”

“Perfect place to see fall colors by shepherd lake. I will be back to explore even more. You also see spectacular fall colors on the way to the park too. There are benches And barbeque stands near the lake so that you can have a small picnic. It's not too crowded although I saw few cars in the parking lot.”

“Great hike although its 7 miles orange to yellow and back. Roads leading to trailhead get flooded from heavy rains so a truck is a must. We really enjoyed the hike and the views and we also loved that it's a less traveled hike off the beaten path. Trails are clearly marked I would rate this hike a moderate hike not hard as all trails has it listed.”
