“Not like other zoos, this one is much more open, so small kids can also enjoy the animals from such a nice distance. Till now, I didn't see any tiger or lion from such an open area. There are picnic areas inside so anyone can bring their own food and enjoy it. At the entrance, there is a small cafeteria where you can find pizza and some other foods. Museums are also good.”

“I think the Bergen County Zoo does everything it can to provide an excellent experience for every person that walks through there. My kids always enjoyed going to the Zoo and so do me and my wife. I hope they continue to get funding so they can continue to provide wonderful memories for many years to come. I'd like to give a big thank you to the staff and volunteers for all they do. Truly Appreciate it.”

“The place was well put together. Weekend visit. The young lady who spoke about the sharks was great. She included the crowd and gave a lot of cool info on the sharks. They have a lot of animals and seem to be treating them well. Only two opportunities for improvement I observed. First was one guy cleaning tables in the food court sprayed the tables connected to where my fiance where eating without regard to the mist of whatever chemical he was using. It got on our food. He also looked very unhappy. The second was the crowd toward the evening makes the exhibits very difficult to get to. Movement is also rough. Keep an eye on your kids as its easy for them to get lost behind crowds. Overall a good experience!”

“Captain Bob & Tom are both birding naturalists who make you feel at ease on board the Osprey, a very solid & safe feeling pontoon boat. We had a great time and saw many shore birds, raptors, a Nelson’s sparrow, belted kingfisher, 2 bald eagles, many greater yellowlegs & black crowned night herons. Whether you’re just out for a nice sail on Cape May Harbor & the beautiful saltwater marshes, or are a serious birder &/or photographer, Captain Bob will do all he can to make the experience enjoyable.”

“We were surprised by the size of the enclosures and the healthiness and diversity of animals as well as the large enclosures which blend well with the nature of the area! Very lively animals, beautiful location. Wheelchair and stroller friendly, family friendly with many amenities for children. Free admission yet they could charge $10 in admission and it would be worth it. The animals are very obviously in excellent care and the zoo helps in animal conservation and preservation.”

“There is a bit of variety with this reptile and amphibian house. From lizards, to turtles/tortoises, and everything in between. My personal favorites are the poison dart frogs. Definitely worth a look!”

“Blink and you might miss the animals here! It's better to look for most of these guys when the weather is cooler, as a lot of them are not warm weather friendly. The foxes and lynx can usually be found sleeping on the platforms in their enclosures. The porcupines are usually trying to get into the doors inside their enclosure.”

“For a free zoo, this aviary is pretty decent. While it doesn't have the variety that the Philadelphia Zoo has, it still has a pretty decent variety of birds. Wearing a hat isn't a bad idea, as the spoonbills nest overhead and tend to poo all over the walkway through the aviary. LoL. If you or someone in your group doesn't like loud noises, you might want to avoid this building as the birds can become quite noisy and the squawking can be rather irritating. Sometimes the flamingos hang out in here, and the parrots can be found in their cages inside if they aren't in their outdoor areas.”

“I often visited here as a child in the late 70's and early 80's so I have a lot of fond memories. It is a small zoo but offers a chance to see animals a little closer up then some of the bigger zoos. We visited in the colder weather so some of the animals weren't in their habitats which is understandable. Still got a good look at the big cats and the other animals that could tolerate the colder air temps. My wife and 2 teenagers had a nice visit, and will be back in the warmer weather to see more.”

“This was a zoo. They have animals at this new. This was a great place to go with the family. They offer you popcorn when you come in the popcorn does not taste good. It is for the Animals to eat. Apparently you are supposed to feed the animals the popcorn I cannot understand how this can be good for them but I was assured by the staff that it is OK. The animals were basically napping most of the day but as I read on the Internet that's what most animals mostly due. Over all we had a great experience and was really glad to see the lions and Tigers and bears”

“Never heard of this place before searching for zoos in New Jersey and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely worth the trip and I will be back next year with my son. It's important to support small, local zoos like these, because they do a great thing for the animals and in return our children get to learn and have love for animals.”
