“It is one of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in Long Island. Some of the reviewers here have not been to Japan I have. As well as most of the top Japanese restaurants in NYC and the country. some of the reviewers are used to cheap sushi from other ethnicities pretending to be Japanese. The only reason for 4 stars is they don't have uni. They only have standard fish. But it is very fresh and I have been going for years and BTW I live in the city as Long islanders like to call it. “Bakery, Bar and Restaurant. Flourish is an all around gem. The space is bright, clean and contemporary. The service is friendly. The food is fresh and fantastic. I ended up going for breakfast 2 days in a row while home visiting. The Breakfast Sandwich is solid, but the breakfast burrito is pretty fantastic. I also enjoyed the currant and rosemary scone. You can’t go wrong. I support the “controversial” equity fee. There are signs and disclaimers on the website, on the door upon entering and on the counter next to the registers. They aren’t hiding it. I think it’s great that they are establishing a fair living wage for their employees. I look forward to being a repeat customer and trying most everything.”

“This was RJs hometown pizza place which closed about 10 years ago. He told me the story of how his father flew back to town just to get the last pizza before they closed. The same family recently reopened Andy's and we wanted to check it out. We made reservations but didn't need them the night we were there. It was a holiday weekend and no one seemed to be in town, so great for us. Hannah was our server and we sat outside in the front. She was super friendly and attentive. We didn't see there was also a really cute seating area out back until we were leaving. We started with fried zucchini and ordered a pizza half plain and half sausage and peppers. NY pizza is the only pizza I have seen where the sausage is slices instead of chunks. I love it like that! The sauce for the zucchini and on the pizza was really delicious, and the crust was perfect. We took half home and it was even better the next day. RJ said it was just as he remembered it.”

I’m very indecisive so I asked our server Adrian for his advice and he was the best. He gave me his recommendations based on what he likes but also urged that I try their signature pizza as it’s a crowd favorite and I’m glad he did. It was amazing! Sweet with a bit of spice! He also served up the best sangria sweet but not too sweet! Delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be back to try some more dishes. “I love Merengue! I been going here for years but this was the first time I dined in. And honestly everyone is so kind and friendly there. I don’t speak good Spanish but the girls behind the counter were such sweethearts and Alex the owner is also so kind, warm and welcoming. The food is delicious! While we were eating there was a guy playing music from the country my family is from and he also bought us shots of tequila. Definitely didn’t expect that! We felt so comfortable and right at home. The sweet plantains is so delicious- my hubby all time favorite- but the yellow rice and beans- definitely my favorite!! My hubby and I loved every thing. Will definitely be coming back.”

The pizza and calzones are all handmade fresh to order (no slices available), and are cooked in a coal fired oven that cooks them quickly and puts a wonderful char on the crust. The toppings are premium (think extra thick pepperoni, fresh veggies, and unique toppings like blackened Cajun chicken). They offer a full service bar, televisions and even outdoor seating.
