“Great place for kids. I went here as a child for Pre-K and camp. I became a youth counselor for the after school program. Before you knew it I placed my son in their programs.”

“Extremely fun place to camp and canoe.”

“Great location for camping or just spending the day! Great views and very peaceful. About a 1 1/2 mile hike heading north from the red Ramapo-Dunderberg Trailhead on Route 106. There are a few parking spots there at the trailhead. Checked with NYS Park Police and overnight parking is allowed. Came up on a Friday afternoon in mid-October 2018 and spent the night tented out behind the shelter. There were two others camping in the shelter and four others tenting around the shelter along with me. Everyone was quiet and friendly. Only issue was that around 1030pm a group of about 10 guys showed up and set up camp. They were loud, drinking, and shining their headlamps around for a while, which was annoying. Other issue is firewood. Get in early and bring a camping saw/axe and prepare to scavenge for a while. Also, it can get quite windy. All in all, will camp there again!”

“Excellent destination for a short family hike. A little uphill, but nothing exhausting. Picnic at the top at the shelter with a spectacular view all around. Two fireplaces at the shelter should you need them for smores.”
