“This place is beautiful to visit even in winters. The place was quite cold when we went in December, but bearable. I would suggest taking a thick coat and gloves. It has all the amenities nearby the trekking mountain - there is a snack bar where you get bars, ice cream etc. There is a restaurant where you can eat good food. There is even an ice skating rank which is I feel is the highlight of the area. You can pay just $10 and skate there for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I would say pretty good deal. The trail itself takes about 2 hours. Had a wonderful time!”

“One of the hidden gems of Harriman State Park. Located on the top of West Mountain with amazing view of Hudson River. In a good weather you can even see Manhattan skyline. The best part - you can see it all right from the shelter. It's like watching a big screen TV. Unlike most of dilapidated Harriman shelters, West Mountain shelter is in a good condition - clean and well maintained. It's quite popular and may get crowded, especially on summer weekends. Water is a bit of a problem - the only spring is way down West Mountain and it dries out on summer.”

“The house is huge, victorian style. It has a lot of rooms, beautifully designed, and clean. It has multiple restrooms, and every room has its own bathroom. One of the living rooms has a nice fire place and there is also a terrace. The house has a lot of windows. It's a nice place to stay at.”

“Super Friendly & helpful staffers, this place is a conference center & healthy lifestyle retreat. The Fair Trade gift shop is highly diverse, gardens & beekeeping at the center. Plenty of space to grab a quiet moment in nature while festive gatherings and suited conferences are held. Google maps got me there, and I was pleasantly surprised & felt comfortable due to the hospitality once inside. Signs of diversity and positive messages included!!!”

“So my rating will vary depending on the campsite neighbors. We have had amazing times at the campground over the past decade plus but we have also been frustrated to no end when neighbors brought lawn equipment and started destroying the woods. We have not thought twice about calling the park police and rangers. Thankfully we have gotten some horrible people kicked out for damaging the trees and nature. We will only ever camp in W section because we adore the nature and enjoy the solitude.”
