Called, told him I wouldn't be there till 1am, left a key for me - tonight's the first night I have really "been" here and not burning oil on campus, but it has been incredibly pleasant, comfortable, affordable....and I had a great successful finals week because of it....I'm 35, if your bothered by noise during the day, remeber it's a hostel, and people live here....but I have never had a more relaxing stressful week in my life.....highly recommend”

“Bobbie took the four of us (two teens plus parents) out on a brisk spring day in April and it was fantastic. He prepped us well before arriving and was great at letting us climb and then adjusting each of us individually with tips and instruction. We started off with an easy slope to get the basics then advanced to harder climbs. None of us had climbed before and at the end of the day we had done 4 different climbs and learned a ton. Can’t say enough about Bobbie’s abilities and professionalism. Also, it seemed like everyone we ran into knew him and thanked him for this or that. Equipment was all in great shape and meeting at the West Trapps trailhead saved a lot of time. Thanks Bobbie, hope to see you again soon.”

“I have attended classes with Jing shut for several years. I am a 77 year old woman and Jing has helped me tremendously with my balance and movements to gain more flexibility. She is extremely patient and encouraging and goes at the pace of each student. Jing has studied the practice of Tai chi in China with a master before coming to the US thirteen years ago.. I highly recommend her as a patient caring teacher for students of all level. In addition the setting of her studio is beautiful amongst the trees flowers and birds.”

Ok, I would like to come back when it's not raining to sit on the deck/patio, but my in-laws (who had brunch with us here) are making plans to stay here when they open the hotel portion. I'm not a huge drinker but the spirits were very tasty for hard liquor. The owner gave us a very nice history of the house and great conversations about the distilling process. Delightful morning!”

“My group had a great time at Total Tennis this past weekend and are already planning a return trip in Spring or Summer. The levels of skill were varied, from very beginner to advanced, and the instruction matched perfectly. As a beginner my group was small with only two other players, so we had very individual instruction with our pro. At times we ran drills with the group one level above us which I found helpful to imitate their form and learn more advanced skills from their instructor. The instructors have a healthy sense of humor that made lessons fun and less intimidating for those who are beginners. The food really is great as others have noted and they're accommodating for those with dietary restrictions. Most other guests were older than our group (we are mid-30s, they were 40s-50s+) but everyone was very friendly, encouraging, and complimentary regardless of an age gap. My only suggestions to the camp are Winter accommodations related. It would be nice if the lodge was a bit warmer in the common spaces and the rooms, since you are sore the cold doesn't help with stiffness. Additionally, I found our bed quite hard and pillows too soft, which added to my neck and shoulder pain from lessons. It would be nice if a fire was going in the lounge throughout the day so in between lessons you could warm up and enjoy a coffee or tea next to the fire. Lastly, the hot tub wasn't available due to a permit issue, but that really would have been a nice touch after a long day of tennis! Looking forward to visiting during warmer weather to take advantage of the pool and outdoor courts. All around we had a really great experience.”

“I brought a group of 45 young people, I have been to at least a dozen paintball fields across the country, and this was our BEST paintball experience. Right from the customer service call I felt a difference, Johan went out of her way to make it work for us. When I arrived we were greeted by Jerry, the owner, a true veteran of paintball. This place is the longest running paintball field ! They are strong on safety and on fun. And we had an awesome referee, Jocker. All great, genuine people. I will definitely go again and recommend the place”

“This was a great spot for a weekend getaway. In November, it was very quiet - we did not see anyone else here at all. Very convenient to Phoenicia for all your dining/provisions, and only 20 minutes away from Slide, Wittenberg, Cornell, and Giant Ledge/Panther Mountain. The cabin had a lot more kitchen equipment than I expected, so you could easily cook real meals if you wanted. Check in/out was easy and convenient (a checkbook is helpful!) I'd definitely come back to Simpler Times if I am in the Catskills again, and I'd certainly recommend to anyone else who's planning to visit!”

Their combo of rice and egg noodles dish was delicious, fresh ingredients and can feed easily 2 people. All their portions are definitely easy enough to share with other. The fried pork sizzling platter was crispy and had such great flavor. Some of their main dishes don't come with rice- highly recommend getting their garlic rice to pair with any protein dish. Their desserts can also be shared and are not too sweet and carry hints if unique citrus or Filipino flavors. Will definitely be back to try other dishes!”

“I spent 3 amazing and relaxing days on a personal retreat at Dharmakaya and it was absolutely recharging experience. The place is located on a beautiful secluded property with trails to hike. It is modern and very clean. My room had a kitchenette and large bathroom, and the whole suite was quite large and comfortable. The vegetarian food was amazing. I really enjoyed meditation sessions. All staff was super friendly and respectful. Overall, my experience was amazing and look forward to coming back there for more recharging!”
