Our daughter really enjoyed playing with the dogs and in the fields / garden. Breakfast was amazing everyday and we would love the recipes to the corn fritters and corned beef hash please. We would like to come back next time we visit nearby Lake Cossayuna.”

I come back to the Capitol District every year to visit and had the amazing luck to run across Lake George Distillery Co at the Troy Farmers Market. Sampled a few of what they had at their stand and every one I tried was smooth and delicious. I bought a bottle of their Straight Bourbon Whiskey and a bottle of their Maple Infused Bourbon. Now that I'm staring at the last finger of my LGDC Straight Bourbon Whiskey, I'm sitting here wishing I had bought three bottles. It's that good. I wish the Virginia ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) stores here carried it!”

“Greenough Paving was recommend to WSA Association by the company that repaved 9N and Town Of Bolton building dept. We contacted them and after getting an estimate the Association voted to use them. They started on a Saturday and within 7 Working days ripped up the existing pavement, encountered tree roots and water lines and kept moving forward. This was a huge job. 11 Households and a through road from 9N. They were phenomenal and hard working. George Knapp lead the way and kept a cool demeanor in spite of unforeseen problems. I HIGHLY recommend them for any paving project. THEY KEEP THEIR WORD”

“Willard is a great little mountain, close by Troy area and not overly priced. Wonderful ski and board learning lessons, MOST of the instructors really take thier time with the kids (and adults). They also have tubing which is always busy. The magic carpet lift for tubing is shared with the larger beginner area so it can be quite congested during peak and lesson times. Parking lot folks up fast, get there early! I went there and got a beginner area only pass since I took an 10-11 yr hiatus from boarding since I had my daughter, who is now taking lessons here.”

“Shadow Hills Farm far exceeded our expectations! The cabin is cozy, clean, comfortable and also has air conditioning, as well as a TV with streaming options. Yes, there's Wi-Fi, though the surroundings are so nice and peaceful that the noise of the internet and TV was the last thing we wanted during our entire stay, since it clashed with the relaxing sounds of the birds and the constant breeze through the trees. There's a separate cabin, which has a fridge, bar/counter with pretty much all the amenities you'd need to make hot beverages, store cold drinks and perishables, as well as prep whatever you plan to put on the grill. Oh yeah, there's a propane grill that works really well! The hosts thought of everything, there was nothing that we needed that they hadn't supplied. Plus, there's the option of a great breakfast and lunch place not more than about two miles away. There's also a really nice fire pit with more than enough fire wood. Even the outhouse is impressive; hand sanitizer dispenser and extra toilet paper, no bugs or mosquitoes, and it didn't smell! As for the outdoor shower, it's very clean and well designed. At night there are nice, dim lights on the trees to light up the area to see your way around but without taking away from the country ambience. It's worth mentioning that the hosts are awesome! They're so nice and welcoming, available to answer any questions, yet are out of sight, leaving you to enjoy the surroundings with privacy. Suffice it to say that "I'll be back!" … we'll be back. This place is a hidden gem. Update October 2022: Back to see the foliage second week of October. Even with rain and fog, the colors did not disappoint.”
