“I selected Elegant Floors due to the company’s glowing online reviews - people were right. They are amazing and I recommend them with confidence. Earlier this year, we had just added on an upstairs bonus room and wanted to continue the hardwood floors throughout the rest of the upstairs, into the carpeted bedrooms. We had no idea the adventure we were about to embark on. Due to a lot of cut corners by the home builder 20+ years ago, there were a lot of uphill battles and challenges that had to be overcome. Between the two bedrooms, there were about 8,000 pounds of gypsum concrete that the builder had laid under the carpet. All of which had to be broken up and then painstakingly hauled out of the house, bit by bit, up and down stairs all day long (hardwoods cannot be installed over concrete like this). Then, we had insulation and high moisture issues with the subfloor. (Darin even hooked us up with someone who came out and added insulation under the rooms where the flooring was installed). So we needed new plywood subfloor. Then, it was discovered that the floor wasn’t level. Problem after problem. It was very stressful but Darin tackled it head on and had a detailed plan of attack for every obstacle (he said our situation was the worst he’d ever seen). Honestly I have no idea how he was able to fix it and get our solid, prefinished hickory hardwoods installed. But he did. It was a Christmas miracle! :) And guess what, they are absolutely gorgeous (see photos). Plus, he installed new baseboards since the old ones weren’t looking so great. Darin will tell you, “If it was my house, I’d do it (this) way.” He’ll also tell you that it’ll keep him up at night if he doesn’t do it the right way. You can tell he honestly cares - which is rare in this day and time. He is absolutely meticulous with his craft. He knows wood flooring inside and out. Just ask him, it’s his passion! He explains everything he’s doing, in extreme detail. Sometimes I had to tell him it was a bit of information overload for my simple brain, ha! And he’s very friendly and likable. Anyone else may have just taken our money and thrown down the floors and hauled out, to save time. Darin spent months at our house, just due to the complexity of our issues, he was incredibly dedicated (a neighbor even asked him if he was moving in, lol). He wasn’t leaving until it was absolutely done RIGHT. He even brought out the Bona wood rep guy twice for some guidance. And, he was very careful about cleaning up each and every day, which minimized the stress of having renovations going on at the house. Bottom line, if you want your floors done RIGHT, whether you’re refinishing or installing, call Darin. We didn’t get any other estimates after him because we knew he was the guy - cost didn’t matter, because I believe you get what you pay for. The main level in our house needs to have these hardwoods installed throughout, and we’ll definitely be having Darin come out to do those when the time comes, in the future. Call him today!”
