“I am the Optometrist responding to the review by Gary Dobson. Mr. Dobson had made an appointment with our office but had not provided his insurance information. As a courtesy to our patients we verify insurance coverage prior to the day of the examination so that time is not spent doing that at the actual visit -it can sometimes take awhile to verify insurance depending on the policy, and it may save them a trip if their coverage is not what they expected. The day prior to his appointment, I called Mr. Dobson to confirm as well as inquire about his insurance info. (He spoke with me because my office manager is on maternity leave so I am also handling some of her duties). He stated that he would just bring it to the appointment. I reminded him that it is to his benefit to have us verify his coverage prior to the visit. At that, he said "you know what just cancel it" and hung up. I am sorry if Mr. Dobson got the wrong impression, but I can assure you that everything we do here is patient-focused, including verifying their insurance in advance of their appointment. I have been at this location for 22 years and I pride myself on going the extra mile for my patients, and I would be glad to do so for Mr. Dobson should he chose to come in.”

“The family went out to dinner last night. We wanted to eat at Outback, but there was a 45 minute wait; that's not possible with a 3 y/o and 7 y/o in tow. Luckily there are many other restaurants in the area. We went to Applebee's and were seated quickly. I use a cane and the Host took care to ensure we were seated at a location that I'd be able to easily get in/ out of... he did this without our asking for the accommodation, but by being observant. HUGE thank you to him!”

“I have so much good to say about this station. I was on my way home this evening, heard a siren, and pulled over for a fire engine to get by. Needless to say, my car got stuck in the mud. Neither I nor the good Samaritan who stopped with me, had any luck budging the car. That same fire engine, when they were through with their call, looped back around and pulled over behind me. The five of them unlodged my car, cleared the way, and stopped traffic so I could be on my way. Durham's finest! It made me grateful for our first responders at Station 16. I thought of the risks that fire fighters take every day, fighting fires, and saving lives, and helping out with distressed vehicles, and their stressed drivers. Thank you for being there and for all that you do!”

The rates are competitive and weekly cleaning costs to employees is very reasonable. UniFirst provides good weekly service to the plant and they resolve any issues that arise quickly.
