.Bethabara Park is one of the most important historic sites of Winston-Salem located just outside the city center. The land is maintained very well. It is the first Moravian settlement in the area. The buildings and items in the building are also very well maintained. 👌
I visited during the apple festival. 🍎. There were guides standings at imp locations dresses as moravians and explained the history and lifestyle of moravians. Moravians placed community and education at the center of everything.
Apple Festival had lots of vendors for food, souvenirs, face painting, and others. I liked apple cidar syrup and bought a bottle. Another one was pig race. It's the weirdest thing I have seen. It was fun, and the kids enjoyed it.
The Bethabara Park grounds are great for walking. It's serene and calm. I will visit it again in the fall to check out the nature beauty.
My husband and I decided to stop by two weeks ago and it was just LOVELY. It is a small place but the history is rich. We walked around freely and admired the scenery. It was so peaceful and quiet. There was a very nice lady dressed in period clothing who offered us free stew and bread and it was such a fun experience. We really had a great time.
Very inspiring place because of the people that once lived there. It was a beautiful place of history where the Moravian people settled in the late 1700s a part of Christian faith and history of North Carolina.
Visitor center closed until April 1st 2023. Still able to walk around the property and read about the buildings and remnants. Great history of the area and lots of firsts for the entire state like the first known Distillery. Lots of walking trails and historical plaques throughout.
Cool historic park representing the early Moravian settlement of the Winston area. One thing to note is that maps takes you to the park trails and not to the visitors center / historic site. The trails are very poorly marked with maps only as you enter the trails. If you are looking to see where the early settlement was you are better off going to the Moravian church and then down the road a bit to get to the historic site. The site and visitors center themselves are well worth it if you are into historic sites. A few old buildings still exist, lots of foundations and a few recreations. This site is well paired with a visit to the other historic Winston-Salem sites.
